Rust Mobile launches its regional beta: here’s how to take part

Are you fed up of waiting for the global release of Rust Mobile? I’ve got some good news for you: the game is set to launch its regional closed beta in Hong Kong and Macau! Scheduled for 9 July, it promises to give you a taste of much of the gameplay from this multiplayer survival game, which was released on PC in 2018. So, how can you take part in the Rust Mobile regional beta? Let me explain everything.

Rust Mobile regional beta: what you need to know

For those who haven’t been following, Rust Mobile is the mobile adaptation of the PC survival game developed by Facepunch Studios. Level Infinite is leading the development of the mobile version. And indeed, the publisher is inviting you to try out the Chinese version of the game during the Rust Mobile regional beta in Hong Kong and Macau.

In other words, this testing phase – which follows on from the one in December 2025 – is reserved exclusively for Chinese players. However, despite this geographical restriction, there is a way to get round it; let me explain everything.

To take part in the Rust Mobile regional beta, you’ll need to use an alternative Chinese app store and set up a VPN. ⚠️ Please note: this method is only available to Android smartphone users.

Step 1 – Download the game (via TapTap or APK)

1. Download and install the TapTapCN app on your Android device
2. Once installed, search for Rust Mobile within the app.

Step 2 – Bypass the geo-block with a VPN

1. Now download a reliable VPN. Visit the ExpressVPN homepage, the one we recommend or another VPN with servers in the regions available in the beta.
2. Now connect to a server located in Hong Kong or Macau.
3. You can now launch the game with your VPN enabled.

Step 3 – Create an account

The final step to enjoy the regional Rust Mobile beta is to register once you’re in the game. To do this, you can use:

• Your Facebook account
• Your Google account
• Your Level Infinite Pass account

System requirements and warnings for the beta

Please note: to take part in the Rust Mobile regional beta, you’ll need at least 15 GB of storage space on your device. Also, bear in mind that this is a beta test.
