Check out the weekly recap of mobile gaming news on Android and iOS for the week of June 13 to 19, 2022! On the agenda this week: a lot of free rewards in the games Riot Games, the Marvel Snap beta, Summoners War Chronicles gameplay, Apex season 2 on mobile and much more to discover in this recap. We'll let you read it all below. ⬇️
1️⃣ Let's start this recap with a final announcement from Summer Game Fest 2022. At the start of the conference between Bethesda and Xbox, we find out that games Riot Games is inviting itself into the Game Pass. Between Queen's Gambit and La Casa de Papel announced as Netflix games, we didn't expect much more from mobile games. But Xbox is offering League of Legends, Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, Valorant and TFT in its pass. You might ask, what's the point for gamers since these are already free games to begin with? Well, the benefits are different for each game.
For Wild Rift, you'll have access to all the champions, same for LoL PC. In addition, you'll get the foundation set unlocked on Legends of Runeterra and a selection of smaller legends on TFT without paying anything extra. If you want to try out all of Riot's MOBA champions, you'll soon be able to take advantage of this partnership and the Game Pass trial month for no extra charge.
2️⃣ We told you about it last week with the launch of Marvel Snap in the Philippines, but we forgot to mention that you can already sign up for the Beta to be among the first to try out this Marvel multiverse trading card game. You can find the Marvel Snap beta registration links in our dedicated article on Mobi.gg and you will be automatically notified when the Second Dinner game is available in your area. As a reminder, the beta will continue until the official launch of the title.
3️⃣ The famous MMORPG that marked some childhoods, although not as much as Dofus, is making a new appearance on mobile. Sweetly named FlyFF Universe, this opus is launching worldwide in 16 languages as a revamped version of the original 2005 game. Although we are assured that the graphics have been reworked, they don't really appeal to me and it will certainly take a bit of nostalgia to dive in and enjoy the experience. This global release follows a release in South East Asia that has already gathered 250,000 players eager to find the 17 years of content accumulated in-game but also the new elements promised by Gala Lab.
4️⃣ This week also saw the release of Dynasty Legends 2 on Android and iOS. Here, HK Taihe Interactive brings the story of the Three Kingdoms to the heart of the action with a welcome graphic revamp. The title multiplies the activities and missions. It takes the core gameplay of the first Dynasty Legends by Omega Force and makes it its own with a new MMORPG environment. For the moment, battles are between limited groups of players in PvP, although a 120-player mode is currently in development. On the other hand, PvE allows you to face huge hordes of soldiers and to forge your legend as a warrior.
5️⃣ On the announced release side, not everything revolves around blood and fights. To change the mood a bit, we can definitely count on the future release date of Railbound which was revealed at the Future of Play. Created by Afterburn, a Polish team, this puzzle game invites you to manage the organisation of your railway tracks to complete the levels. To avoid missing anything, you'll have to learn to divide your attention and manage your cars skilfully so that they all arrive at their destination in the right order. When the game is released in September 2022 on mobile, PC and console, it will have around 100 levels to get your brain working.
6️⃣ Heir to the strategy games mixing management and royal lineage, Kingdom Maker will put you in command of your own kingdom following a terrible orc attack. Everything must be redone to push the limits of power, expand your influence and ensure the happiness as well as the survival of your citizens. With Scopely at the helm of this title, we discover the first original universe of the studio, admirably translated into French, by the way. A 4X strategy title, Kingdom maker merges exploration, conquest, combat and resource management. In addition to your people, you will have to manage your characters who are like Sims leading your empire. From your two original heroes, you will have to maintain your lineage with great blows of cracking between adults while resisting enemy assaults.
7️⃣ MMORPG offered by Perfect World, Tower of Fantasy finally announces its global release. It is thus that confirmed that Tower of Fantasy will be released in Q3 2022 in English, that is to say between July and September, during the summer or in the fall. This open-world on PC and mobile has already been released in China since last year and is close to Genshin Impact both visually and in terms of gameplay. So take advantage of the weeks of waiting to make room on your smartphone and sharpen your weapons that will have to slay monsters and machines more powerful than the others in Tower of Fantasy.
8️⃣ Tencent's gaming label, Level Infinite, continues its momentum with the upcoming worldwide release of Chimeraland. A dreamlike world filled with legendary and strange creatures, Chimeraland doesn't really rely on its rather ugly and desolate landscapes but rather on its varied gameplay mechanics. From crafting to resource collection or technology research, you will always have something to do. What's more, the ancient creatures you meet along the way can be used as mounts or as dinner, and you can make them evolve towards what interests you most. The title is currently available for pre-registration and is expected to announce its global release date soon.
9️⃣ Now in pre-registration, Ocean - The place in your heart will take you into the calm and sumptuous depths of the ocean to collect and interact with a multitude of animals. With over 100 creatures to tame, you can play mermaid alongside a humpback whale or meet manta rays and even sea turtles to ride. To continue this dreamy adventure at the bottom of the sea, you can decorate the environment with your own garden and watch it grow peacefully. Action is not at the heart of the gameplay, as this is an idle clicker that will mostly leave room for peaceful relaxation.
🔟 Still on the pre-registration side , it's King of Kings ' turn to launch in Asia on Android. You probably know the studio behind this title if you follow our recaps, since it isArchosaur Games, which is also behind Noah's Heart, whose beta took place recently, and the MMO Dragon Raja. Both of the above games are or have been getting a lot of hype, but I'm having trouble finding King of Kings of very engaging. Visually, it looks quite dated and lacks an interesting graphical style. As for the gameplay, it feels like a step backwards compared to the evolution of MMORPGs in the last few years, with clumsy fights and moves that struggle to convince. We'll know more when the game is released, but King of Kings will really have to prove itself to find its audience.
1️⃣1️⃣ In an interview given by the game's developers, we learn a bit more about the gameplay of SW Chronicles. Even if most of this information was already more or less known, we take the opportunity to review some essential aspects of the game with the confirmation of the developers. Since its announcement trailer at Gamescom 2020, Summoners War Chronicles has not revealed much about itself. What we do know is that it will be an MMORPG that will bring a new dimension to the license's lore after Sky Arena and Lost Centuria and that you will have the choice between 3 characters to play as: Cleaf as a melee player, Kina as a support player and Orbia as a ranged mage. The RPG system will be fairly standard but will offer you to have 3 pets by your side with a build to customize. Even if you will find monsters known from Summoners War, it is likely that they have been modified to better fit this new opus.
That said, after the semi-flop of Lost Centuria with the community and the addition of tokens afterwards, we are a bit afraid for the future of this MMORPG without an official release date yet.
1️⃣2️⃣ Let's move on to this week's update with the launch of Season 2 Cold Blast fromApex Legends mobile. On the World's Edge map, you'll be able to take advantage of the frozen loot generated by the Air Conditioner, and in a temporary game mode called Armed and Dangerous, you'll only be able to shoot shotgun or sniper rifle. All you have to do is throw yourself around like a good Leeroy Jenkins or camp as firmly as a rock against a bush or large boulder. In addition to this new content, the game welcomes the legend Loba who scouts for the best loot through walls before taking it for herself and teleports by projecting her tech bracelet.
1️⃣3️⃣ Another important arrival these days is the new civilisation of the Egyptians in Rise of Kingdoms. Two great commanders make their first steps in the excellent strategy game from Lilith Games. Thutmose III, the warrior king, and Imhotep, the priest of Heliopolis, intend to build the most powerful empire ever. Overall, choosing Egypt will boost your archers and rallies as well as your research and construction speed very slightly. Far from being the best civilisation in the game, you are advised to choose Egypt only if you are a paying player used to rallies that favour archers or if you want to admire the buildings of this brand new RoK civilisation.
1️⃣4️⃣ To conclude the weekly announcements, let's take a look at part of the new trailer for Honkai Star Rail, the upcoming title from Hoyoverse. These images were revealed for the Summer Game Fest 2022 and promise action, story and emotions for this game currently in pre-registration which will obviously be part of the Honkai universe already carried by Impact 3rd. As with Summoners War Chronicles, Star Rail will feature known elements of the licence but also alternative versions of characters loved by fans.
