When is the release of Genshin Impact 4.8 Update?
Genshin Impact 4.8 is slated for a release on July 17, 2024. Before the maintenance, players have the option to pre-install the latest update so they can easily dive into the game as soon as the new update is out.

The first phase of Genshin Impact 4.8 Preview
Kicking off this patch is the first phase of Genshin Impact 4.8, where two characters will be having their reruns. Nilou is a 5-star Hydro unit from Sumeru who specializes in facilitating and dishing out damage through the Bloom reaction. Accompanying her is the President of the Spina di Rosula herself, Navia. She is a main-DPS character who deals tons of Geo damage in a large area, and is best paired with characters that can help her trigger the crystallize reaction.

The second phase of Genshin Impact 4.8 Preview
For the second half of Genshin Impact 4.8, the new Dendro character and an existing character will be available. Emilie is yet again another Pneuma-aligned playable character from Fontaine. She is an ATK-scaling Dendro vision holder who wields a polearm and a sub-DPS. Interestingly, she is the first unit in the game to benefit from the Burning reaction. Meanwhile, Yelan is a Hydro bow character, often used as a sub-DPS thanks to her unrivaled off-field damage and hydro application.
The second phase of Genshin Impact 4.8 will take place on August 6, 2024.
New Skins for Genshin Impact 4.8 Preview
This year's summer-themed patch, Summertide Scales and Tales is also bringing in two new skins in Genshin Impact for characters, Nilou and Kirara.
The only way to unlock Nilou's skin is to spend 1,350 Genesis Crystals. On the other hand, Kirara's skin can be obtained simply by progressing through the event. Upon obtaining these skins, players can swap between their classic and the new skin.

As with every Genshin Impact patch, version 4.8 introduces some fantastic events that you can participate in to earn loads of rewards.
Bing-Bang Finchball
In this event, players will get to meet a cheery researcher named Basima the Fifth who will introduce a relaxing tabletop game called "Bing-Bang Finchball". It features a solo mode and another mode where you get to play with another friend. Be it solo and duo, your main objective is to throw finchballs patiently and collect coins that can be exchanged for rewards.
Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens: Dew-Kissed Chapter
Traveler once again meets the illustrator named Asagiri in Fontaine. Now for this event, you are tasked to grab your camera, travel across the nation and do some photo-taking sessions with Asagiri's requests in mind.
Summertide Scales and Tales
Once a year, HoYoverse ensures players enjoy summer-themed events. This time around, Genshin Impact 4.8 will introduce the Summertime Scales and Tales which is going to be the main event of this patch. In this event, players will be able to explore a new temporary region, and obtain a free "Kirara". Finish this event to claim different rewards including Primogems, Mora, Ascension and weapon upgrade materials and Crown of Insights.
Energy Amplifier: Lemma
Prepare your combat skill as the new Energy Amplifier: Lemma event will test your fighting skills. In this combat, players will form 3 parties from their own character pool or trial characters, and partake in three consecutive rounds of battle. The main objective is to defeat as many opponents within the time limit, and acquire medals based on their score.
