Yelan is a 5-star Hydro character fighting with a bow. She is a very good sub-DPS in that she can apply the Hydro element and boost the active character's attack with her elemental rampage. The latter is very similar to that of Xingqiu, one of the best characters in the RPG. We tell you all about Yelan from Genshin Impact in this comprehensive guide. With our tips and tricks, you'll know which artefacts and weapons to equip her with to give her the best build, but also which teams to play her in.
Yelan was released on May 31, 2022 during the 2.7 update of Genshin Impact. As a 5-star character, you can only attempt to summon her when she is highlighted in a Character Event Wish.
You can try to unlock Yelan in Genshin Impact by performing invocations on the Discerner of Enigmas banner from 31 May to 5pm on Tuesday 21 June 2022.
You can play Yelan without unlocking his constellations, we advise you to save your Primogems. But if you want to invest in Yelan, we recommend you to get the first 3 constellations.
His C1 Enter the Plotters gives an extra charge to his elemental attack. This allows you to do more damage while collecting more energy particles.
His C2 Taking All Comers deals Hydro damage of 14% of Yelan's max HP when a coordinated attack is triggered by an exquisite die, at most once every 1.8 seconds.
And with the C3 Beware the Trickster's Dice, you increase Yelan's elemental rampage by 3 levels.
Yelan will perform primarily as a sub-DPS in Genshin Impact. Like Xingqiu, she will be able to apply the Hydro element with her elemental rampage even if she is no longer on the battlefield. But it doesn't stop there: when Yelan activates her elemental rampage Depth-Clarion Dice, she summons a die that follows the active character for 15 seconds.
It performs a coordinated attack that deals Hydro damage based on Yelan's max HP when a character launches a normal attack (the effect can be triggered every second) or when Yelan's lifeline explodes and hits enemies.
In addition, thanks to the Adapt With Ease passive, as long as an exquisite die is active, the deployed character's damage is boosted by 1%, then by an additional 3.5% every second, up to a maximum of 50%.
With her elemental attack Lingering Lifeline, Yelan moves quickly and marks the enemies she hits with a vital line. At the end of her move, the line explodes and inflicts Hydro damage to the marked enemies according to Yelan's maximum HP.
You can perform this ability on long press, and Yelan will be able to control the direction of her run. Each enemy marked by Yelan's line gives her a 34% chance to get a "Breakthrough" state when she explodes. This reduces the charge time of her next aimed shot by 80%. The arrow inflicts Hydro area damage according to Yelan's maximum HP.
For optimal rotation, the trick is to start by casting Yelan's elemental skill on short press to generate energy and inflict damage, activate his elemental rampage, and then switch to your main character to do maximum damage.
A word of advice, increase Yelan's elemental rampage first, then her elemental attack. If you're not playing her as your main DPS, you won't need to raise her normal attack.
All damage from Yelan's elemental skills is based on his HP. It is recommended that you increase Yelan's HP to at least 30,000 points to do significant damage. Similarly, you'll need to increase his critical hit and damage rate, as well as his energy recharge (around 200% or a little less if you have another Hydro or Raiden character on your team) to be able to regularly unleash his elemental rampage.
In this guide we reveal the best artefacts and weapons to equip on Yelan in Genshin Impact for a relevant build.
The best weapon to equip on Yelan is his signature bow: Aqua Simulacra. It gives her a huge boost to DMG CRIT. Her passive also increases her HP by 16% and if enemies are nearby, the damage she deals increases by 20%, even if she is not deployed.
If you do not have this weapon, our advice is to opt for :
To complete Yelan's build in Genshin Impact, the 4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate set is the best choice of artifact. 2 pieces of equipment increase the energy recharge by 20% and with 4 pieces, the damage of the elemental rampage is increased by 25% of the energy recharge.
You can also go to :
If in doubt, the trick is to choose the artefacts with the best statistics:
Secondary statistics to be prioritised:
It is not necessary to have ATK stats on Yelan artifacts. For the heroine Hydro, it is mainly the HP that counts.
To reach level 90 in Genshin Impact, you need to collect the following resources:
Yelan easily replaces Xingqiu in many teams. You can play her in Team Rational with Raiden, Xiangling and Bennett (to multiply the elemental reactions) or in an Electro-Charged team with 2 Electro characters(Beidou, Fischl, Raiden, Yae Miko, Shinobu, etc.), one Anemo character(Sucrose or Kazuha) and Yelan.
You can also combine Yelan and Xingqiu for optimal Hydro application to Hu Tao and Zhongliyou will make a lot of Vaporize. This is one of the best teams to play Yelan in Genshin Impact. It is also possible to play Yelan with other Pyro heroes (Diluc, Yoimiya, Klee, etc.)
Yelan will also shine in a mono Hydro team with 2 other Hydro characters: Xingqiu, Ayato or Kokomi (if you need healing) and an Anemo hero (Kazuha or Sucrose).
With the Turn Control passive, if the team includes characters of 1/2/3/4 different elemental types, Yelan's max HP is increased by 6%/12%/18%/30%. But depending on the configuration, it is often better to have two characters of the same element.
Yelan is a mysterious young woman who supposedly works for the Liyue Civil Affairs Bureau.
Yelan is about 1.66m tall and is one of the tallest female characters on Genshin Impact. If her age remains a secret, she is at least old enough to play in the casino.
That's it for the tips and tricks in this guide to Yelan in Genshin Impact. While it is an excellent sub-DPS, it will not add anything new to your teams if you already have Xingqiu, except for some extra damage. However, she will be able to ally herself perfectly with him. With a good build, Yelan will be a great asset to face the abyss.
