To all you thirty-somethings nostalgic for old cartoons, I've got good news for you: Disney has finally announced the release date for its next game, Disney Pixel RPG. Mickey's next gacha, developed by GungHo Online Entertainment, is due to arrive on Android and iOS on 9 September.
Disney Pixel RPG plunges you into the world of your favourite Disney characters!
As we await the official release date of Disney Pixel RPG on 9 September, we'd like to tell you a little more about this free-to-play gacha. The world of our favourite characters has suddenly been invaded by a horde of monsters ready to do battle.
You'll have to come to the aid of Mickey, Donald, Ariel, but also the genius of Aladdin and Aladdin himself, Stitch, Winnie the Pooh and many other heroes whose adventures you've already followed! All wrapped up in pixel-art AD in a variety of styles, from retro to modern. The first images show several iterations of Mickey .
In terms of gameplay, although few images have been released as yet, it seems that Disney Pixel RPG will feature turn-based combat, as well asan auto-mode function like any self-respecting gacha. Another familiar mechanic is the ability to send your characters on explorations to collect resources and items. What can we expect from Disney Pixel RPG's business model?
Will Disney Pixel RPG be free-to-play friendly? Nothing is less certain....
Disney Pixel RPG will be a F2P gacha, but can we expect Mickey Mouse's company to be lenient with players who don't want to reach for their wallet? Between the items we'll be able to collect, the equipment, the clothes and the different haircuts that will allow us to personalise our avatar, but also the developer and publisher behind the game (known for hisditeur derrière le jeu (connu pour être l' expert des mécaniques de gacha agressives, notamment avec Teppen), on peut difficile espérer un système économique équilibré.
It should also be pointed out that Disney games are not known for being particularly free-to-play friendly. One example is Disney Speedstorm, which we tested and which is clearly a pay-to-win game. Dreamlight Valley, on the other hand, offers an economic system tempered by its presence within the Apple Arcade subscription.
Whatever the case, we'll have to wait until 9 September to find out what Disney Pixel RPG has in store for us! In the meantime, you can always try out other games from the same universe, such as Disney Heroes: Battle Mode!
