In recap #213, we take a look at the week's must-have mobile games releases, mobile news and pre-registrations/test phases not to be missed.

Mobile games releases of the week

This week has been rich in release announcements, with many games now available on the stores:

  • Totally Accurate Battleground Simulator is out as a Play Store and App Store port of the original 2021 title, with a redesigned experience for fans of extraordinary physics. Form your ranks of marshmallow dummies, arm them to the teeth and let the game generate the scale of the damage.
  • Farlight 84 is rolling out its complete overhaul on Play Store and App Store, including new graphics, a new map and new characters. One of the main gameplay innovations is the addition of an FPS view, with controls redesigned to adapt to the TPS camera switch.
  • Fellow Moon begins its soft launch in China, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan, on Play Store and App Store. Featuring stylish chara design, mysteries to solve and turn-based combat, Fellow Moon plunges you into the futuristic urban setting of the city of Nanting.
  • Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is out at last: you play as Snufkin who returns to the Valley of the Moomins after a trip. Problems have accumulated and some of your friends have disappeared. Unravel the mysteries on Play Store and App Store!

Then there's Qrusader, which uses QR codes from everyday life as a source to generate dungeons in which you can loot and progress with your little cartoon character, on Play Store and App Store.

Team combat game Punch TV is also available on Play Store and App Store. Fate War, a strategic island simulation set in a world devastated by the famous Ragnarok, is out on Play Store and App Store. Criss Cross Castle Lost Stories, a casual puzzle game, is also available on Play Store and App Store.

Bloomtown: A Different Story, an immersive JRPG with a Stranger Things feel, is also available on Play Store and App Store. Growbot, a 2D adventure game set in a space station, has finally been released on Play Store and App Store.

Finally, 112 Operator is this week's free game from the Epic Games Store.

Pre-registrations, announcements, updates and testing phases

  • Sakuna: Hinuka Junreitan arrives in the fertile world of agricultural sim RPGs. It will soon be available on mobile and PC.
  • UnVeil, the tactical RPG, is now open for pre-registration on Play Store and App Store. Summon heroes to your tower at the crossroads of different worlds, meet new companions and explore its infinite floors in search of all its secrets.
  • Stella Sora presents its episodic story in the enchanting world of Nova. If you like hack n slash, engaging characters and potentially edgy combat, pre-register on Play Store and App Store.
  • Seal of Fate is now open for pre-registration on Play Store and App Store, and will soon be offering its anime-style characters, as many female chara as you can add to your team of 3D waifus, so you can relax with jiggle physics when life gets tough.

Then there's Kaiju No8, a turn-based RPG featuring monstrous creatures, due for release on Play Store and App Store on 31 August. Resonance Solstice, a brand new TCG due for release on 31 October, is now open for pre-registration on Play Store and App Store. Meanwhile, Agent 47 will be arriving this autumn with Hitman: Absolution, which is already available to pre-register on Play Store and App Store.

If you liked Dorfromantik or Terra Nil, don't miss the Preserve pre-registration on Play Store and App Store! Astera is the new RPG from the creators of Runestrike and Eternium, in beta on Play Store. And finally, Faily Brakes Roadtrip is up for pre-registration on the App Store. The brakes are off and you're now in for a Temple Run-style continuous-fall adventure.

Other news and events from the mobile games industry

There's more from the mobile JV industry this week:

  • The International Game Developers Association is launching the Port Quest initiative to provide a framework and solutions for porting games from other platforms to mobile. We're seeing more and more titles taking the plunge into mobile, but Port Quest wants to offer more sustained support.
  • A potential comeback for Battlefield Mobile? This week's job advert for a Director of Performance Media for the Battelfield licence states that the role will focus on PC and console gaming, and potential mobile marketing strategies.
