Xiao Guide Genshin Impact: Build, Weapons and Artifacts

Xiao Guide Genshin Impact

Are you a fan of trampolines and fast characters jumping around? Then you'll love Xiao from Genshin Impact! If you don't, you'd better not summon him. The demon tamer fights with a hast weapon and becomes formidable when he dons his Yaksha mask. He then defeats all his enemies with a series of devastating plunging attacks. To help you master his gameplay and give him the best build, we have written this complete guide to Xiao from Genshin Impact. You'll know how to equip him: which artifacts and weapons to give him, with which team to play him, etc. We also take the opportunity to give you some tips and advice!

How to get Xiao in Genshin Impact ?

Xiao was released on 3 February 2021. You can only attempt to summon him temporarily and in a Character Event Wish.

Xiao's banner

Xiao's banner: Sparkling invitation

Xiao has a rerun in the Invitation to Mundane Life banner. You have a chance to unlock him from January 5th to January 25th 2022 until 5pm. After this time, you will have to wait for MiHoYo to grant him a new banner.

Xiao's constellations

The Yaksha Keeper can perform without constellations, you can save your Primogems if you already have it. Only his first constellation and the last one are really interesting:

The C1 Aeon Dissolve: Destroyer of Worlds adds an extra charge to its elemental attack.

The C6 Demon Tamer: Yaksha Guardian allows you to use the elemental attack much more often when Xiao dons his Yaksha mask. This means you'll be charging at monsters rather than looping around them like a kangaroo.

How to play Xiao in Genshin Impact ?

Xiao's diving attack in Yaksha mode

Xiao is definitely a Main DPS, he doesn't boost anyone and is only there to do big damage. His gameplay is essentially based on his elemental rampage: Evil Scourge. Trigger him as quickly as possible by collecting energy, whether it's with his elemental attack Lemnic Wind Cycle, where Xiao rushes forward to hit his enemies with Anemo energy, or with other characters that can be used as a battery.

Once Scourge of Evil is activated, Xiao dons his Yaksha's Mask. This mode increases the range and DGT of his attacks, converts all his damage into Anemo DGT and makes him jump very high. Take advantage of this to perform diving attacks to inflict maximum damage. However, in this form, the adept will lose 2% of his HP every second. You'll have to compensate for this weakness with a healer.

Xiao's skills in Genshin Impact

Xiao's elemental rampage lasts 15 seconds and can be restarted every 18 seconds. If you manage the energy recharge well, you can use this ability almost constantly.

On single target, we advise you to favour charged attacks rather than plunging attacks.

In order to increase Xiao's damage in Genshin Impact, you will need to level up all his abilities. To do this, you will need a good number of scrolls of Prosperity.

What is the best equipment for Xiao?

To choose the best gear and make Xiao a formidable DPS hand, you'll need to choose a build that focuses on attack, Anemo damage and critical damage.

The best artefacts for Xiao

Artifact for Genshin Impact : Gladiator's Finale
Gladiator's Finale
Artifact for Genshin Impact : Shimenawa's Reminiscence
Shimenawa's Reminiscence
Artifact for Genshin Impact : Viridescent Venerer
Viridescent Venerer

In order to optimize Xiao's equipment in Genshin Impact, we recommend combining two artifact sets. Increase his attack by 18% with the 2-piece set Gladiator's Finale or 2 pieces of Shimenawa's Reminiscence. Then add 2 pieces from the Viridescent Venerer set to get a 15% DGT Anemo bonus.

As for statistics, bet on ATK % on the hourglass, Anemo damage or ATK % on the cup and DMG crit or Taux crit on the crown. Also focus on damage and critical rate, ATK % and energy recharge for sub stats.

The best weapons for Xiao

Xiao's equipment would not be complete without a good Hast weapon, and there are several options:

Best weapon for Xiao in Genshin Impact : Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (5★)
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (5★)
weapon for Xiao: Staff of Homa (5★)
Staff of Homa (5★)
  • Winged Jade Spear (5★): this is his signature weapon and Xiao's best weapon. Each enemy hit grants you a 3.2% bonus toATK for 6 seconds (cumulative up to 7 times).
  • Staff of Homa (5★): this staff increases HP by 20% and grants a damage bonus proportional to 0.8% of max HP. When the HP bar drops below 50%, another bonus is granted.
Weapon for Xiao: Deathmatch (4★)

  • Scion of Victory (4★): the Battle Pass weapon gives you a 16% attack bonus if there are 2 or more opponents and 24% if there are fewer.
  • Spear of Rochenoire (4★): this weapon increases attack by 12% for 30 seconds when you defeat an enemy (cumulative 3 times).

Xiao's climbing materials in Genshin Impact

Do you want to make Xiao one of your main DPS? In that case, we advise you to raise him to level 90 by collecting the following resources:

  • 18 Blob Slime, 30 Blob Mucus and 36 Blob Essence, which you will unsurprisingly get from Blobs! And a little tip: remember to synthesise on the alchemy table to convert your low-level resources;
  • 168 Qingxin Flower: They are found in the Liyue region. You can find them more easily with the interactive Teyvat map. You can also grow them in your Serenitea Pot ;
  • 46 Jade juveniles to loot on the Ancient Geosaurus;
  • 1 Shard, 9 Fragments, 9 Pieces and 6 Vayuda Turquoise Stones: you will get them mainly by facing theAnemo Hypostasis.

Which team should Xiao play in?

Team for Xiao in Genshin Impact

Xiao is a rather selfish character, who does not work with all supports. His damage is amplified by his ultimate attack, so you will need a lot of energy. For this purpose, we recommend Anemo characters that can be used as batteries, such as Sucrose or Jean. The latter has the advantage of providing healing.

If you don't play Jean, consider adding a character who can heal Xiao after his elemental rampage. Bennett Bennett is a good option, especially since he can use this to boost damage.

You can also select Geo characters such as Zhongli and Albedo. This will be a good way to protect Xiao with a shield, while dealing extra damage.

We recommend a team of Xiao / Bennett / Sucrose and Zhongli or Xiao / Jean / Albedo and Zhongli

What is Xiao's birthday and height from Genshin Impact ?

Profile of Xiao

Xiao is a follower of Liyue, but also the last of the five Yaksha. His mission is to protect Liyue from demons and other evil entities, which is why he is called a demon tamer. You may have met him several times in the Archon quests. He also has his own story quest.

Xiao is over 2000 years old and was born on April 17 according to the lore of Genshin Impact. He is about 1m58 tall. Despite his youthful appearance, he is nevertheless a fierce warrior.

Xiao with his Yaksha mask

Xiao's gameplay in Genshin Impact is actually quite simple and relies on his elemental rampage and diving attacks. Well equipped and optimised, he can inflict a lot of damage in the abyss. However, since its release, the character has not been given any new artefacts or supports and is thus less valued than newer 5-star heroes. He is still a very good Main DPS.

I hope this guide to Xiao from Genshin Impact has helped you get started and choose the best build. Don't hesitate to give your advice in comments!
