If you've been following mobile games news over the last few years, you may know that Path of Exile mobile has been announced. What do we know about its development since then? Has a release date already been announced? We'll take a look here.
The first time Path of Exile mobile was mentioned was at ExilCon in 2019. On that occasion, the mobile version of the hack and slash was presented as an experiment by Grinding Gear Games. The announcement was even accompanied by a trailer.
Path of Exile 2 was also announced at ExilCon. Since then, the game has been released on 6 December 2024, with varying degrees of success and some controversy. In fact, if you're playing the second instalment in the series, I'd advise you to buy PoE 2 currency for better progress.
For PoE mobile, the studio promised a version that would be faithful to the PC version, with a few changes to ensure that it would be well adapted to the mobile medium. And best of all, PoEm would be completely free to play, with a balanced business model favouring F2P.
Following the announcement of Path of Exile on mobile, we'll have to wait a few more years, until 2022, for the first playtests, which have been relatively successful. Some players complained about the lack of controller support and, above all, the numerous performance and control problems.

But in the meantime, PoE 2 was released and created a controversy due to a number of problems, including server crashes that angered gamers. Some of the developers were therefore called in to fix the problems encountered by players. On the other hand, the studio has also announced that it will be continuing its work on PoE 1, and that it intends to add new content on a regular basis.
With all these ups and downs and the desire to keep PoE 1 alive, it's difficult for the studio to continue developing Path of Exile mobile. The PoE mobile website is still online, but we don't yet know anything about its progress, let alone its release date. So we'll have to wait a little longer before we can get our hands on Path of Exile mobile.

So we're hoping that development of PoE mobile will resume soon! Naturally, the editors will keep you posted as soon as Path of Exile mobile is back in the news. But don't worry, there are other hack and slash mobile games out there, such as Diablo Immortal or Dead Cells in a metroidvania style.
