If you've just completed the Fontaine Archon quest, chances are you've encountered Fontaine's Chief of Justice, Neuvillette. Neuvillette Genshin Impact became a playable character in version 4.1 of Genshin Impact and is the second 5-star character released since Fontaine's arrival. He is a Hydro Main DPS who wields a catalyst as his weapon and primarily deals damage through charged attacks. While his abilities are straightforward, Neuvillette is widely regarded as one of the best DPS characters, thanks to his self-sufficient kit and high damage output.
In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know about Neuvillette, including his talents, lore, strengths, weaknesses, and how to obtain him.
Hailing from Fontaine, Neuvillette is one of Genshin Impact's 5-star Hydro characters. Armed with a Catalyst weapon, he conjures powerful hydro torrents capable of obliterating any foes in their path.
Neuvillette serves as Fontaine's Chief Justice, also known as the Iudex, presiding over court proceedings and trials with unwavering seriousness. Simultaneously, he leads the Marechaussee Phantom. When delivering his verdict, Neuvillette uses the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale and dutifully follows its directives, regardless of his personal beliefs. Neuvillette is one of the best Genshin Impact characters.
Is Neuvillette good in Genshin?
According to our Genshin Impact Tier List, Neuvillette ranks among the top characters in the game for numerous reasons. His exceptionally self-sufficient kit not only enables him to deal substantial damage but also provides self-healing capabilities, eliminating the necessity for a dedicated healer unless he's part of a Furina team. Additionally, Neuvillette boasts above-average personal damage, making him capable of soloing challenging content such as Spiral Abyss floors.
Thus far, Neuvillette's primary weakness lies in his vulnerability to interruptions, particularly during his charged attacks, which can result in a loss of DPS. However, this can be resolved by adding a shield character such as Zhongli or acquiring his first constellation.
Neuvillette has everything you need if you're aiming for a high damage output. Fortunately, unlocking his talents doesn't require mastering complex maneuvers or mechanics; instead, Neuvillette's Hydro DPS capabilities are straightforward to harness, provided you understand how to effectively utilize his skills.
In this guide, we will explain how to use Neuvillette by explaining his talents, and his constellations.
Understand all of Neuvillette's talents; both active and passive through this guide. Here, we will show you a list of his abilities and how they work.
Talents
Effects
Normal Attack: As Water Seeks Equilibrium
In Neuvillette's kit, his normal and charged attacks don't deal much damage, as the bulk of his damage stems from the Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment. During this charged attack, he unleashes surging torrents that continuously inflict Hydro damage on all opponents within the straight-line area. Additionally, he will lose HP if his current HP is above 50%.
Before executing his special charged attack, Neuvillette must first gather Sourcewater Droplets, which can be obtained from the Hydro Traveler or through his elemental skill. Each droplet absorbed increases the formation speed of his surging torrents and also restores Neuvillette's health.
O Tears, I Shall Repay
Neuvillette's elemental skill summons a raging waterfall which deals Hydro damage in a wide area in front of him, based on his max HP. If it hits an opponent, it will form 3 Sourcewater Droplets. As for Neuvillette, hitting this ability is crucial in order to quickly unleash your charged attacks.
This ability will also unleash the Spiritbreath Thorn at intervals, which will pierce through opponents dealing Pneuma-aligned damage.
O Tired, I Have Returned
Neuvillette's elemental burst is quite similar to his elemental skill, but better. It deals higher amount of damage, and will place 6 Sourcewater Droplets regardless if you hit an enemy or not.
Gather Like the Tide
Increases the underwater sprint speed of Neuvillette and other party members by 15%.
Heir to the Ancient Sea's Authority
This passive ability dictates how you should build Neuvillette's team. For every reaction your team can trigger, Neuvillette can acquire up to three Past Draconic Glories. The more stacks you have, the higher damage bonus you will receive.
Discipline of the Supreme Arbitration
Neuvillette will receive 0.6% Hydro damage bonus for each 1% of his current HP greater than 30% of his Max HP.
Neuvillette Genshin Impact - Constellations
The Chief Justice of Fontaine has an excellent set of constellations that's worth saving primogems for. However, Neuvillette Genshin Impact is already decent enough at zero constellations. But you can consider his first constellation as a great stopping point to get rid of his main weakness, which is the lack of interruption resistance.
Constellations
Effects
Venerable Institution
His first constellation removes the need to use shields or any interruption resistance effect. His C1 adds an extra layer of protection by increasing his interruption resistance.
Juridical Exhortation
It enhances the "Heir to the Ancient Sea's Authority" talent, which will increase the Crit Damage of his charged attack by 14% per each stack of Past Draconic Glories.
Ancient Postulation
Increases the level of Normal Attack: As Water Seeks Equilibrium by 3.
Crown of Commiseration
C4 generates 1 Sourcewater Droplet each time Neuvillette takes the field and when he is healed.
Axiomatic Judgment
Increases the level of his elemental burst by 3.
Wrathful Recompense
Upon activating the sixth constellation, Neuvillette gains the ability to absorb Sourcewater Droplets while his Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment is active. Additionally, each droplet will increase its duration by 1.
Finally, his charged attack will unleash 2 additional currents every 2s upon hitting opponents.
