Requirements for catching Heartopia's frostspore whale shark

The hunt for Heartopia's whale shark is part of the Winter Frost Season event. As you'll have gathered, the appearance of this legendary fish is particularly rare. Here's how to unlock this event.

1. Unlock the Fishing hobby

Obviously, to be able to fish for Heartopia's frostspore whale shark (and any other fish in the game), you need to have unlocked the appropriate hobby. Check out our fishing guide to find out how! In short, you need to give an expansion voucher to Vanya, the Fishing NPC.

2. Unlock the Winter Frost Season

You can only access the Winter Frost Season if you have reached D.G. Member level 6. You'll also need to take part in the Winter Frost Season preparations.

3. Complete Vanya's Frostspore Fish Event

Have you checked off all the previous prerequisites? Now you can join Vanya, who is in the Snow Village in Thermal Mountain. She is on the beach of the ancient sea.

Accept her quest for the Frostspore Fish: all you have to do is catch one of the fish on your list.

Where and when can you find the frostspore whale shark?

The appearance of Heartopia's frostspore whale shark is entirely down to luck, it's a random event. Even knowing how to catch it doesn't guarantee success! Here's how to do it:

1. Take part in the "Frostspore Fish Event" event

Vanya's Crystalline Fish event takes place every day at 6pm. All you have to do is log in on time to take part. Go to the Winter Frost Season menu -> Fashion activities and select the fishing menu. Click on "Go" to join the event.

2. Wait for the "Chance" phase

During the "Frostspore Fish" event, a "chance" phase may appear at random. In this case, you will receive a message to warn you that there is movement in the water... This message tells you that Heartopia's frostspore whale shark is close by!

Look out for its shadow in the water: you can't go wrong, it's much bigger than the other fish.

⚡ My tip: make sure you empty your bag before setting off to hunt frostspore whale shark! Also remember to have some food to regain energy.
