In this week's Recap #166, we take a look at the week's must-have mobile games releases, mobile news and pre-registrations/test phases not to be missed.

Sit back and relax as we round up all the week's mobile games news! On the agenda: the release of Zenless Zone Zero, the arrival of Waven on mobile, pre-registrations for Tales of Terrarum and a whole host of other news.

Mobile games releases of the week

This week has been rich in release announcements, with many games now available on the stores:

  • This week marks the release of Zenless Zone Zero, head to New Eridu in HoYoverse's new 3D action game on Android and iOS. You assemble a squad of three strong characters to juggle your two futuristic identities.
  • It's also the release of Waven on mobile, with all the graphics and universe of Dofus in a tactical cocktail of turn-based combat signed by the Ankama team. You can download and test Waven on Google Play, Appstore and even Steam.
  • The triple A game of the week coming to iOS devices is Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, a realistic horror title set on a lost farm in Latin America. It's already available for free on theAppstore!
  • Minesweeper, the modern deminer, is available on Netflix on Google Play and Appstore. Explore the game's aquatic maps to cool off this summer.

At the same time, there's also the release of the gacha RPG Otherworld Three Kingdoms, the excellent cartoon tower defence Underdark: Defense and even the title Outlanders 2 in the Apple Arcade.

Pre-registrations, announcements, updates and test phases

As well as the recent releases, we've got more test announcements and pre-registrations in stock this week:

  • Pre-registration has begun for Tales of Terrarum, a cosy, colourful life simulator that you're going to want to check out soon.
  • Genshin Impact 2 is soon to go into production, if we are to believe the information gathered with the job offers. We tell you all about it in our dedicated article.
  • An English version of the popular Heaven Burns Red is planned for publication by Yostar, the creators of Arknights.
  • You can also pre-register for Madoka Madoka Magia Exdra, which expands the Magical Girl universe with a brand new story and characters. Don't forget to sign up on Google Play and Appstore.
  • The next game from HoYoverse, creators of Genshin Impact, could be called Astaweave Heaven.

Pre-registration for The Godfeather: A Mafia Pigeon Saga and Re: Zero Witch Resurrection has also begun on the stores. In addition, the new JRPG Alter Age has been announced on the Play Store.

Other news and events from the mobile games industry

There's more from the mobile JV industry this week:

  • Vans is promoting its new trainers on Roblox, joining a host of metaverse brands such as Universal, Ikea and Nike.
  • HoYoverse takes pride of place in our news this week, and Zenless Zone Zero hits the top 1 download list in a hundred countries on the day of its release.
  • At Gamescom, Krafton will be presenting Dark & Darker mobile, Inzoi and PUBG as part of its roster of eagerly awaited new releases.
  • Ubisoft Toronto is undergoing a wave of redundancies and joins dozens of other studios set to reduce their workforce in 2023 and 2024.
