If you've played the latest Pokémon games, then the name Game Freak certainly rings a bell! Game Freak are the devs behind the games in the famous Pokémon licence (and in particular those responsible for the graphics on Pokémon Arceus). The studio has announced its latest free-to-play RPG for Android and iOS, Pand Land, which will be released in Japan on 24 June. We'd like to tell you more about this cute adventure game, which can be played solo or in co-op!
We heard about it earlier this year when Game Freak registered the trademark and logos for Pand Land in Japan. Now it's official: the game will be released on 24 June in Japan.
Pand Land is a game designed by Game Freak and developed by WonderPlanet, best known for the Crash Fever series. Announced on Gematsu, this new title will be an adventure RPG at sea, where you play the captain of a team of explorers in search of a legendary treasure (nothing to do with One Piece, of course).
You'll discover the vast and mysterious world of Pand Land on your own or with friends, as the game can also be played in co-op!
Collect characters, find treasure and explore the waters of Pand Land
Pand Land is billed as a colourful top-down casual game with cubic graphics, a bit like Pokémon Quest, also developed by Game Freak.
In the course of your adventure, you'll be able to collect over 400 unique companions (explorers as well as animals), discover treasure maps and many places hidden beneath the clouds of the map. The game also features Zelda-like dungeon exploration.
The trailer also shows us a few combat phases, so it's safe to assume that the game will offer a bit of a challenge, whether you're playing solo or with friends.
As a reminder, Pand Land will be released on 24 June in Japan. If you want to enjoy it and pre-register, you'll need a VPN and an App Store account if you want to download it on iOS. No word yet on whether the game will be released in Europe, or whether it will be part of the Switch catalogue. We'll be sure to keep you posted!
