I'm always curious to see how different studios handle DC's massive roster of heroes and villains. The DCKO announcement gave us our first proper look at the upcoming mobile fighter, and from what we've seen so far, it looks like it's aiming for fast-paced matches without making things overly complicated. The game is still some time away, with a planned release in 2027, but there's already plenty to get excited about!
DC has never really been short on games. From massive adventures such as DC: Dark Legion to fighting games featuring some of the biggest superheroes in the world, there’s already a lot for fans to enjoy. But the DCKO announcement caught my eye because it’s taking a slightly different route. Instead of another traditional fighter, this new mobile game is focusing on fast-paced 2v2 tag battles.

The team behind DCKO is one of the most interesting parts of this announcement. The game is being developed by Drop Fake, a new studio founded by former developers from Marvel Contest of Champions. For mobile fighting game fans, that connection is definitely worth mentioning since the team already knows what it takes to create a successful superhero fighter. If anyone knows how to make superhero battles work on a phone, it’s the team behind one of the biggest mobile fighters out there. (No pressure, right?)
The game is set to release on Android and iOS in 2027, with pre-registration already available. From what it seems, a lot of fans were hoping for an Injustice 3 announcement, so this reveal has been a little disappointing for some, while others are absolutely hyped to see what DCKO announcement has to offer.
A DC fighting game with a huge roster of heroes and villains already sounds exciting, but DCKO is adding its own twist to the formula. Battles will let players swap between characters during fights. This means players can switch between characters mid-battle and create different combos using their team.
The game will feature real-time PvP and story-driven PvE missions. There will also be plenty of ways to customize your fighters with different Super Moves. You’ll get to explore iconic DC locations like the Batcave and Themyscira, while new playable characters are planned to arrive every month. Personally, I’m curious to see how the team behind Marvel Contest of Champions handles such a massive DC lineup.

Here are some of the confirmed characters seen in the DCKO announcement trailer:
Sure, some fans might still be wishing this was the Injustice 3 reveal, but I have to admit, DCKO announcement has me curious. I’ll definitely be trying it out when the full release arrives in 2027. And if you’re looking for other mobile fighting games, check out Skullgirls!
