Magnificent graphics
Beautiful cinematics
A game that has won a number of prestigious awards
A new title from miHoyo after Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail takes everything that made its predecessor such a success, and adds some new mechanics. In this gacha RPG, you board the Astral Express and set off on an adventure in an extremely complete futuristic world.
Honkai: Star Rail has won several prestigious awards, including the Game Award for Best Mobile Game. So it had to be one of our top mobile RPGs.
This title boasts superb graphics, tactical turn-based combat and content that will blow your mind. Not to mention cinematics worthy of the greatest anime series. Honkai: Star Rail is available as a free download, so why not make the most of it?
A solid 20 hours of gameplay
Beautiful 3D graphics
A false air of Zelda
One step off the podium is Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm. If you're a fan of The Legend of Zelda, you won't be disappointed by this title that blends tradition and mythology. As a young knight from the world of Gaia, you'll have to battle the demon Mesmeroth and his Army of Darkness.
In-game, it has all the ingredients of a good RPG: puzzles to solve, lots of dungeons to explore, really dynamic boss battles, side quests with lots of good loot, beautiful 3D graphics and lots of exploration! You can expect at least 20 hours of gameplay from this iOS-only game, the first instalment of which is also available on Android.
Adaptation of the comics by Joe Madueira
Dynamic turn-based combat
Plenty of activities to do
Ranking fifth in the list of the best mobile RPGs on iOS and Android, Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a truly successful mobile port. The title is adapted from the eponymous comic by Joe Madureira, who also handled the art direction for the Darksiders saga. Unsurprisingly, you're immersed in a resolutely dark atmosphere for this RPG that will send you on a quest to find your missing father.
Five colourful heroes accompany you in turn-based combat: a fallen paladin, an ancient war golem, an old magician, a bounty hunter and a demon hunter. They each have their own abilities and items, complementing an advanced crafting system.
As well as dungeons of increasing difficulty, there are other activities on offer: fishing, exploration, quests to hunt rare monsters, arenas with waves of enemies, etc. Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a premium game that costs €9.99 on Android and iOS.
A game with over 50 million downloads
An RPG for families and friends
A captivating cooperative title

The game's style may not appeal to some, but if you get hooked, you won't regret it. For all these reasons, we had to include it in our top mobile RPGs.
Perfect for fans of tabletop role-playing games
Adapted from Steve Jackson's role-playing books
A hand-drawn world
In seventh place in this list of the best mobile RPGs on Android and iOS is Sorcery! 4. This RPG presents itself as an open-world adventure with a rich narrative altered along your journey by thousands of possible choices to compose a unique story. If you're a fan of tabletop role-playing games or novels where you're the hero, you won't be disappointed by this hand-drawn journey.
Sorcery 4! is adapted from the book games by Steve Jackson, the author behind Warhammer, and is available in English only. To progress in the plot, you need to be creative and make your own judgements based on the situation; lie, cheat, play with honour and create relationships with other characters. You can try Sorcery 4 on the stores for 6 euros and dive into an epic universe with lots of twists and turns.
The 8th best mobile RPG is Undecember, a dark and bloody hack'n slash. For many, this title is even better than Diablo Immortal! With highly detailed graphics, a varied bestiary and full French translation, this title is sure to win you over. In fact, take a look at our review of Undecember to get a better idea of the game.
With its fantastic medieval atmosphere and immersive universe, Undecember invites you on a journey populated by tough enemies and splendid animations. A special mention goes to the soundtrack, which is of excellent quality. In fact, we recommend that you play the game with headphones to get the most out of it.
Pretty , colourful graphics
A unique and original combat system
A varied bestiary
We continue our list of top RPG mobile games with Knighthood: the Knight. This time, you take on the role of a knight of rage, destined to fight and conquer! The programme is pretty standard for a role-playing game. But the title is no less original for its colourful graphics, unique combat system and extensive bestiary (goblins, undead, beasts, etc.). You'll have to prove yourself to become the most feared knight in Knighthood. To do so, you'll have to defeat a host of enemies and even your friends in a fantastic world populated by mysterious monsters.
Follow the legendary Sire Edward Drakeson as you take your first steps as a knight. You'll receive your gauntlet, an emblematic relic of Knighthood. Then it's up to you to amass fame and fortune by collecting a host of items to personalise your knight of rage.
An old-school RPG packed with content
Beautiful pixel art graphics
Scathing humour
Developed by Paradox interactive, Knights of Pen & Paper 2 offers an old-school turn-based combat experience. Enjoy a completely retro atmosphere with pixel art graphics. In this heroic fantasy world inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, you create a personalised game, where you play both the player and the master of the game. You choose your characters and the challenges you face.
As your adventure unfolds, you'll face a wide variety of enemies, form the group of heroes of your choice, craft powerful items and explore new gameplay possibilities. This mobile RPG is a return to its roots, full of geek references and self-deprecation, but its business model has worsened over time to force you to grind or pull out the CB, so try it out for fun, but don't spend all your time on it and come back to enjoy the game with regular updates. Knights of Pen & Paper 2 is available on Android, but you can also try it out on Switch or PC <witha much more generous premium model.
A Pokémon-like concept
Shimmering graphics
Large, open maps for greater freedom
The 11th position in our top of the best mobile RPGs goes to Botworld Adventure. This gacha puts you in the shoes of a Botmaster, and your aim is to capture and collect intelligent little robots. The principle of the game is very similar to Pokémon, in broad terms.
But there are many other reasons why Botworld Adventure has made our list. Its shimmering graphics, PvE battles and large open maps are just some of its many qualities.
If you're not familiar with this title, we invite you to download it.
A roguelite with a false air ofArchero
Requires a Netflix subscription to play
Each run of the game is different
Since the last edition of this top, we've said goodbye to Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, which has closed its doors on mobile. But a new opus from the Ubisoft licence has made its debut as a Netflix game on Android and iOS via your standard subscription to the SVOD service. In Mighty Quest Rogue Palace, the focus is no longer on defence but on attack. The game's roguelite formula works extremely well: each run invites you to choose a path on the map of the region you're exploring to unlock a particular new piece of equipment, improve your stuff at the forge, buy build elements or even sacrifice blood for upgrades before passing through a boss chokepoint.
The levels offer a good challenge without being impossible to complete, and the wide variety of heroes available gives Mighty Quest a high degree of replayability. Unlike flavourless Archero clones, this roguelite, which is available entirely in French, follows the genre's usual formula with a style all its own, and deserves a place in this top list of mobile RPGs.
And if you like multiplayer, the Archero-like formula is very well taken up in Knight's Edge, with linear progression for fierce 3v3 battles on Android and iOS.
Colourful, anime-style graphics
Hero customisation
Charismatic protagonists
In fourteenth place in our top mobile RPG games list is Epic Conquest 2, an open-world action-RPG. The title draws its inspiration largely from anime, whether for its colourful graphics, its story or its character animations. Numerous cutscenes enrich the story, and the characters are charismatic and varied.
In terms of gameplay, you can customise your hero and enhance his attributes to create a unique build. Each character has 8 skills and 8 masteries. You can mix and match them to make your hero even more powerful. You can also forge, improve and rarefy your equipment. You'll find lots of resources (treasure chests, hidden objects, crafting materials, etc.) as you explore the world.
Postknight 2 is a popular free-to-play RPG that lets you play as a knight postman. You work for the Company of Postal Knights and must climb the postal ladder to become an S-rank knight!
Postknight 2 is an excellent RPG that will keep you on the edge of your seat for hours on end, thanks to an exciting story and a host of customisable builds.
If you haven't played it before, we invite you to give it a try. We've included it in our ranking of the best mobile RPGs for a reason!
A mobile RPG, whether on Android or iOS, is a role-playing game. You play as a character, often a knight, a magician, an archer, and so on. You start at the lowest level, almost naked, and progress through the story and quests to equip your character. RPGs offer a huge amount of resources to collect, whether to improve your skills, your equipment, make items, etc. The popularity of this type of game has grown over the years.
The popularity of this type of game is well established on consoles, and with good reason: RPGs are extremely immersive. On mobile, it's the same thing, except that you can go on an adventure anywhere - on public transport, in a queue, in the toilets, and so on. This time, we're not talking about casino games, puzzles, gacha or video games where the characters fight on their own. Mobile games have nothing to envy console titles in terms of story, combat or mechanics.
And that's it for our top picks for the best RPG games on Android and iOS. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do! This non-exhaustive selection focuses on free or low-cost titles and, above all, non-pay-to-win mobile RPGs. If your gaming appetite isn't satiated yet, don't hesitate to take a look at our top 18 best mobile MMORPGs.
