Arknights: Endfield, Gryphline's real-time strategy RPG, promises a vast world and advanced construction mechanics. But is it possible to discover Talos-II with others? The game is primarily designed as a single-player narrative experience. However, even if Arknights: Endfield multiplayer doesn't exist in the strict sense (no PvP or real-time co-op), the title does incorporate some social features. Here's how it works.
To cut a long story short: no, there is no multiplayer mode in Arknights: Endfield at the moment. So it's not possible to play co-op or PvP. Gryphline has focused on storytelling, single-player exploration and managing your base. Incidentally, the first opus didn't offer multi either.
Gryphline is staying true to the DNA of the licence (the first Arknights was purely PvE) by emphasising :
A dense and immersive narrative.
Strategic single-player exploration.
Complex management of your industrial base.
⚡ Mobi.gg tip: if you're looking for a gacha RPG in the same vein as Arknights: Endfield with multiplayer, turn to Genshin Impact! The game features co-op with boss raids and exploration.
Balancing a tactical Gacha RPG is extremely complex. Integrating PvP or direct co-op would probably unbalance the narrative experience that Gryphline wants to offer.
As you can see, multiplayer is not on the agenda for Arknights: Endfield, and the studio has yet to make a statement on the subject. Can we expect it in the near future? That would be surprising. On the other hand, there is the Friends system, a feature more or less akin to multiplayer.
The 'friends' system, an asynchronous multiplayer mode
You may not be able to fight side by side, but you're not alone. After about an hour of play (at the end of the tutorial), you'll unlock the Friends system. Herein lies the nuance of Arknights: Endfield multiplayer.
It's similar to that found in Animal Crossing or Death Stranding, for example: asynchronous multiplayer where you interact with the tracks left by other Endministrators, without playing live with them.
Here are the social interactions on offer:
Visiting other Endministrators' bases: you can draw inspiration from other players' bases!
Sharing Operator builds: perfect for exchanging optimisation ideas for your characters.
Team composition: this is your chance to try out different styles of play, taking inspiration from other players.
Sharing blueprints: this is the star feature. You can save the layout of your factory and share the code. Other players can then 'copy and paste' your optimised structure into their world.
Assistance: Helping others is an important part of Arnights: Endfield, as you can also assist other players in producing resources.
On-map support: As in Death Stranding, you can also set up buildings on the Talos-II map (such as zip-lines in strategic locations) to simplify exploration.
Here's a step-by-step guide to adding friends to Arknights: Endfield:
Open the game menu
Click on "Friends
Go to the "Add a friend" tab
You can select players from the list, or enter a friend's UID.
⚡ Mobi.gg tip : click on the "Friends" menu, then "Profile" to find your UID.
Could Arknights: Endfield multi arrive in a future update?
A lot can change after a game's release. Without making any false promises, we can envisage an Arknights: Endfield multiplayer mode, in the form of a co-op mode for boss raids for example. A bit like the co-op mode in Genshin Impact!
It would seem that Gryphline is concentrating first on the stability and quality of the single-player gameplay, before integrating other multiplayer features. If you're looking for this game for PvP, I'd recommend MMOs like Ragnarok X: Next Generation, or Crystal of Atlan to keep things anime-style!
