Top mobile games for January 2026

Don't know what to try out on your phone - on the move, at home or even in the toilet? Every second of gaming must be worthwhile, so the Mobi.gg editorial team has put together a selection of the best mobile games for January 2026. These high-quality free and premium titles were released in December 2025, but they're sure to complete your collection and are available now on Android or iOS.

Our favourite mobile games of the month

This month we've fallen for two great new releases. Make room on your storage space, because these mobile games are going to be hard to resist.

Where Winds Meet

Immerse yourself in medieval China with Where Winds Meet, the PC phenomenon that's coming to your phone with half a thousand menus. As a young sword fighter, you explore a Wuxia open world of magical lands. With a tried-and-tested free-to-play model and a detailed adventure, Where Winds Meet sends you through stunning landscapes, taking part in dynamic battles and slaughtering mobs at every turn.

In-game, all the NPCs have things to tell you, the world is teeming with details and it really makes you want to linger between two duels on the background of this universe. Where Winds Meet is available on Android and iOS, so give it a go if you love adventure RPGs!

Red Dead Redemption

Guns are back in fashion in 2026 as you take your first mobile steps into the great American West. The acclaimed Red Dead Redemption makes its debut in the Netflix catalogue with the original story of John Marston, the repentant criminal who tracks down his former gang mates through the sticks.

Enjoy tumbleweeds, an incomparable Wild West atmosphere, a complete single-player campaign and, thanks to the Undead Nightmare expansion, a territory full of zombies. The game hasn't aged at all badly, so we intend to make the most of this port, on foot or on horseback! Provided you have a Netflix subscription, of course.

January's must-try mobile games

With dozens of releases a day on the various game shops, it's hard to keep track. So we've gone through it all for you, and here are the best releases of the past month to try out over the next 30 days:

  • Planet of Lana, a beautiful indie puzzle platformer. Play as Lana and her companion Mui in a world populated by strange machines on hand-painted backgrounds. You can run, jump, crouch and change certain elements of the scenery to progress from one painting to the next. The game is available for $9 on Play Store and App Store.
  • Sengodai, a title with an addictive gameplay loop, lets you collect creatures called Gokai to build up your deck in a roguelike formula. The game sends you off to challenge the gods against a backdrop of Japanese aesthetics on Play Store for $10.
  • Legendary Pilots is a free flight simulator on Play Store and App Store. Its special touch is its indie, retro graphics, which work well on mobile.
  • Dadish 4 is a new opus in the indie platformer saga. Swing through the air, let your mummy tomato carry you, find all the other baby radishes and beat boss after boss. It's cute, it's endless, and it's Dadish 4, available free on Play Store and App Store.
  • Dawnmaker, a single-player strategy game where you have to make the right decisions for your kingdom. Collect and spend cards to build buildings, gather resources and light lighthouses. The game is available for $10 on Play Store and App Store.
  • Cult of the Lamb is an indie title with cartoonishly cute graphics that puts you in the shoes of a possessed lamb setting up his own cult. With the roguelite combat loop and management of your base of worshippers, Cult of the Lamb is an effective cocktail for the Apple Arcade.
  • PowerWash Simulator delivers its satisfying experience on iOS through the Apple Arcade subscription. Draw pictures in the slush with high-pressure water. Get rid of all the grime and become totally addicted to virtual cleaning on the App Store.
  • Drive Rally recaptures the mood of the 90s racing games, with plenty of arcade mechanics on the roads and dirt tracks. It's available for $10 on the App Store.
  • Fightland is a giant arena game that promises large-scale battles with up to 100 players in the same colourful arena, divided into 4 teams of 25 members. It's free-to-play and available on Play Store and App Store.
  • ManEater lets you become a hungry, toothy shark whose aim is to survive, eat, explore and grow stronger by slaughtering as many humans as possible. So, who wants to let off a bit of steam in Maneater on Play Store and App Storefor $10?
  • Abyss Hunters lets you gather unlikely adventurers to carry out your ultimate mission. Form your company and foil your enemies' traps in a cozy, isometric 2D pixel art style, on Play Store and App Store.
  • Contra Guns is a 3rd-person shooter. Shoot your best headshots, find cover and take control of the game. You'll recognise the gameplay of titles like T3 Arena and other hero shooters, and you can settle your PvP scores right now on Play Store and App Store.
