In recent weeks, we've seen that the life simulator genre still has a bright future ahead of it. With the mobile version of Cozy Grove, the announcement of Project Party by Lilith Games and Tales of Terrarum, you'd (almost) think that Animal Crossing-like games would soon be replacing RPGs! This impression is confirmed by the release of Spirit of the Island by PID Games. While it doesn't revolutionise the genre, the addition of a multiplayer campaign definitely makes it a title worth trying out, for under $5!
Release of Spirit of the Island, a classic but effective Harvest-Stardew-Crossing game
In Spirit of the Island on mobile, you take on the role of a character who, in order to come of age, has to go on an adventure. And to fulfil this ritual, you'll have to restore a tropical island and restore its reputation as a top tourist destination.
The least we can say is that Spirit of the Island has all the hallmarks of the best-known life simulators (Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, to name but a few). Aside from its rather classic storyline, the various missions to be carried out won't leave you feeling out of place, unless you're new to the genre!
Exploring a total of 14 islands, meeting the locals, crafting, building farms, farming, solving mysteries and, of course, fishing - all the ingredients are there to concoct a life simulator that works well.Because, despite the fact that Spirit of the Island isn't a revolution, the game is rather pleasant with its cute graphics and colourful AD.
You'll enjoy making your archipelago a welcoming place, convincing tourists to settle there for good! We do, however, regret the frequent return trips, which may tire you out in the long run. But the real strength of Spirit of the Island isthe co-op campaign!
Enjoy the experience of two with Spirit of the Island's co-op campaign!
Life simulators are not always co-op friendly. For example, the multiplayer mode on Stardew Valley mobile is still not available, and like Animal Crossing, Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit only offers asynchronous multiplayer, a mode that allows you to swap items, among other things.
With Spirit of the Island, you'll be able to fully enjoy the experience with a friend, thanks to the co-op campaign, which imposes no restrictions: all quests and resources are accessible to both players. What's more, the co-op campaign has its own story .
If you're interested in this game from PID Games, it's available for less than $5 on Android and iOS. If you like the genre, we can't recommend it enough!
