It's official: the Pokémon Company has just announced that Pokémon Champions will be released on mobile on 17 June. But after the frankly mixed (if not catastrophic) reviews on Nintendo Switch, can we expect a surge of enthusiasm from players? Nothing could be further from the truth...!
Pokémon Champions on mobile will arrive on 17 June 2026. The programme includes a free-to-play competitive title with single-player and dual-player battles.
As a bonus for the release of Pokémon Champions on Android and iOS, you'll be able to import or export your creatures from Pokémon Home. Certain Pokémon will be able to mega-evolve with Mega-Gems and benefit from Teracrystallisation. On paper, Pokémon Champions looks like a great success... But that's without taking into account the feedback from its release on Switch last April.
Pokémon Champions was released in April 2026, and its reception was , to say the least, frosty. Pokémon fans are used to being disappointed, with titles that rarely manage to reach industry standards (cuckoo, Pokémon Arceus). And yet, the new competitive game in the Pokémon licence had everything going for it:

Pokémon Champions on Switch, on the other hand, took a lot of flak for its many bugs (bad item activation, crashes during the tutorial, etc.), deplorable graphics and 30 FPS max, and the absence of several hundred Pokémon. For the release of Pokémon Champions on Android and iOS mobiles, you should also be prepared for a free-to-play model that leaves a lot to be desired, as players are also pointing to the long-term costs and the amount of in-game currency.
Still want to give the game a go? For the release of Pokémon Champions on Android and iOS, you'll receive a Raichu and two Mega-Gems when you log in for the first time, an exclusive feature not yet available on the Switch version.
Pokémon Champions will be released on mobile on 17 June 2026 and is already available for pre-registration on the stores.
