Today marks the release of Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, the new mobile game from Square Enix! But this is not a visual novel like Paranormasight or an RPG, but a 3v3 combat game in boss rush mode! The good news? You'll be reunited with the iconic characters from the franchise, including Cloud, Lightning and Zidane. So what can you expect? That's what we're going to find out.
Everything you need to know about the release of Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy
As I was saying, Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is a 3v3 fighting game. Dissidia is Square Enix's fighting game sub-franchise !
For the time being, the game is a boss rush arena where two teams compete in PvP to beat the current boss. The strengths of this new title:
A dream roster, with characters that are well known and loved by fans of the Final Fantasy licence
Tons of different outfits to modify your characters' stats
Gameplay designed and optimised for touch screens
A 'reverse isekai' scenario, where FF heroes meet up in modern Tokyo
Mobi.gg's verdict: Should you go for it?
I'd advise you to try out the game when Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is released, at least for the pleasure of playing with the characters from the licence. The game is easy to pick up and quite enjoyable. Battles are dynamic and the controls work really well.
In terms of gameplay, you'll need to seek out the Bravery Burst at all costs, which is the only time you'll be able to hit the boss. To do this, you'll need to fill up your Bravery gauge, inflicting damage on the crystals that generate enemies, and on members of the opposing team. You'll need to use a bit of strategy, and manage your various attacks well.
Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is a competitive game with well-balanced matchmaking. On the other hand, it remains to be seen in the long term, but the game could prove to be P2W. Here, the gacha system includes the drawing of characters AND their abilities, which could clearly put F2P players at a disadvantage.... So there's a slight downside to the business model.
