In this week's recap #179, we take a look at the week's must-have mobile games releases, mobile news and pre-registrations/test phases not to be missed.

Sit back and relax as we round up all the week's mobile games news! On the agenda: the release of Grimguard Tactics, the closed beta of Girls' Frontline 2 and SEGA suing the developers of Memento Mori.

Mobile games releases of the week

This week has been full of release announcements, with many games now available on the stores:

  • Grimguard Tactics is finally available! This turn-based strategy game plunges you into the dark world of Terenos, where every battle is a blend of ingenuity and strategy. The game is available free-to-play on Play Store and App Store.
  • Clank! the famous deckbuilding game is coming to mobile, ready to delight fans of board games. You'll need to strategically navigate your way through dungeons while avoiding awakening a fearsome dragon. Clank! is available on Play Store and App Store for €10.
  • TED Tumblewords, developed by Netflix, is a newcomer to the word game genre. Inspired by Wordle, it features a PvP mode and daily challenges for a stimulating PvE experience on Play Store and App Store.
  • Landnama lets you take on the role of a Viking chieftain and develop your clan. This strategy game, now available on Play Store and App Store, immerses you in resource management and conquest in a hostile environment.

We continue with the adaptation of So I'm a Spider So What as a mobile game. The game lets you evolve a spider by exploring dungeons. For fans of the genre, check out this adventure on the G123 website. For Halloween, the roguelike Bella Wants Blood offers a bloody and strategic atmosphere on Play Store and App Store.

Rounding off the releases is the strategic combat game Metal Storm Steel Tempest, available in Japan. Control and customise mecha in a sci-fi universe where politics and PvP battles come together.

Pre-registration, announcements, updates and testing phases

In addition to the recent releases, we have more test announcements and pre-registrations in stock this week:

  • Tencent's Codename: Outpost enters closed beta, a survival game that could be the mobile version of Rust, in China.
  • Rise of Eros opens its pre-registration on Play Store. This RPG features a cast of 3D goddesses with detailed graphics and casual gameplay. An uncensored version will also be available on Steam.
  • Pirate Outlaws 2 Heritage has been announced for 2025. The game will feature a strategic adventure at sea with card battles and treasure hunting. Players will be able to merge cards and recruit crews in this sequel.
  • Bloons Card Storm, a PvP CCG, is now open for pre-registration on Play Store and App Store. Defend your ground in turn-based card battles with changing effects for strategic gameplay.

Total War Empire, due out on 21 November, takes you back to the military campaigns of the 18th century on Play Store and App Store. Rememento: White Shadow, a Genshin Impact-like JRPG, is due out in early 2025. Meanwhile, MICA Team is launching a worldwide closed beta for Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium, which you can access via this form.

Then there's the beta for the RPG Fellow Moon , open in China, where you'll be exploring a futuristic city in the style of Zenless Zone Zero. Shadow of the Depth, developed by Chilly Room, offers a hack'n slash RPG in open beta on Play Store and App Store. Discover explosive combat and a wide variety of builds. And finally, Go Go Muffin, a cosy, social MMORPG, is also in beta.

Finally, Carrion, a pixel-art horror game, is now open for pre-registration on Play Store and App Store, with a release date of 31 October.

Other news and events from the mobile games industry

There's more from the mobile JV industry this week:

  • SEGA has taken legal action against the developers of Memento Mori, claiming damages for patent infringement. The infringements relate to a number of gacha-style gameplay mechanisms, and SEGA is calling for the title to be discontinued immediately.
  • Solaria: Dawn of Heroes is calling on its community for testing via Reddit. This colourful RPG with cartoon graphics offers captivating combat and a multiplayer mode, with a free experience on Android and iOS.
  • For Xavier's birthday in Love and Deepspace, Air China has created exclusive boarding passes. This event increased the excitement among fans, confirming the unique appeal of these mobile games in China.
  • After the fiasco of The Day Before, Fntastic is turning to mobile with dubious projects to finance its next game. The studio, already criticised, continues to surprise by promising a horror game while their reputation remains fragile.

Battle Crush battle royale will close its doors on 29 November due to budget cuts at NCSoft, despite good chara design and fun gameplay. Finally, we have leaks announcing a future cross-platform multiplayer Pokémon game between mobile and Switch. However, this information remains uncertain and nothing has yet been confirmed.
