The suspense is finally over for Android gamers: Epic Games and Google have finally buried the hatchet and are signalling the imminent return of Fortnite to the Google Play Store worldwide. How do you get the Battle Royale back and why has it taken so long? Here's the lowdown.
For the moment, we don't know the official date of Fortnite's return to the Android store. What we do know is that this news doesn 't just concern the United States, but the whole world (the game has already been available on the US Play Store since December 2025).

As a reminder, in August 2020, Fortnite was banned from the Play Store after Epic Games tried to get around Google's 30% tax on microtransactions. In response, Epic Games took Google to court over issues of illegal monopoly , winning the case in 2023.
Fortnite's return to the Google Play Store is part of an overall announcement from Google. On the agenda:

In exchange for these various measures, Epic has agreed to drop the charges against Google. We have also learned that a confidential agreement signed between the two multinationals involved Epic paying $800 million to purchase Google services. In return, Google will have greater access to the Unreal Engine.
Once Fortnite returns to the Google Play Store, players will have two options for downloading the game: from the Play Store or the Epic Games Store. No more fiddling around! We'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as Fortnite officially returns to the Google Play Store. In the meantime, check out our top mobile Battle Royale!
