Last August, we told you about the rumoured arrival of Final Fantasy XIV mobile, the Square Enix's famous MMORPG. We had to wait a few months before Tencent and Square Enix decided to make the news official. Now that the announcement of FFXIV on mobile has been made, let's take a look at what this port has in store for us.
The announcement of FFXIV on mobile was made by its producer, Naoki Yoshida himself, who presented the trailer in a video posted on the game's official YouTube channel.
“It has been 11 years since Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn launched, and this new mobile game will be a sister to Final Fantasy XIV, aiming to recreate the grandeur of the original’s story and combat mechanics on mobile devices. Non-combat features, such as Disciples of the Land and Hand, will also be faithfully implemented and we look forward to growing alongside the passionate Final Fantasy XIV community.”
Naoki Yoshida will be heading up operations at LightSpeed Studios (a subsidiary of Tencent) for the adaptation of his MMORPG on mobile.

Before its official release, playtests will be organised in China. So we'll have to wait a little longer before we can test FFXIV on mobile.
You'll soon be able to explore Eorzea, the world of Final Fantasy XIV, on Android and iOS, as well as enjoying most of the game's features (fishing, Chocobo racing, the Triple Triad card game) and FFXIV gameplay adapted for mobile.

Some well-known characters and equipment from the licence will be included, as well as the housing, weather, class and job systems. Not to mention the Gold Saucer, which will of course be present in this version of the game.
It's enough to make all the fans of Square Enix's MMORPG (and there are many), as well as those who haven't had the chance to try it out on PC and consoles, tingle with anticipation. You'll soon be able to play FFXIV on your mobile, either solo or in a group, thanks to the various social interactions on offer.

Much more than a simple port, FFXIV mobile has been designed to adapt to Android and iOS devices and offer the most faithful experience possible. We'll let you know more as soon as the official release date is announced! In the meantime, you can find out more on the official FFXIV mobile website.
