Genshin Impact Varuna Gatha: Complete quest guide and puzzle solutions

Varuna Gatha - Genshin Impact : quest guide

Lost in the Woods of Apam? The Varuna Gatha quest is a crucial step in the Aranyaka book to clear the incessant rain in Sumeru. The Varuna Gatha quest in Genshin Impact is one of the quests you need to complete to validate Children of the Forest, one of the quests in the second chapter ofAranyaka: Dream Nursery.

⚡ Please note: you must have completed "Aranyaka Part 1: Woodland Encounter" and own the Vintage Lyre to undertake the Varuna Gatha quest.

How do I start the Varuna Gatha quest?

You have completed the quest Aranyaka - 1: Encounter in the Forest and started the quest Aranyaka - 2: Dream Nursery ? You can then start the Varuna Gatha quest in Genshin Impact by heading north into the Apam woods, not far from the Statue of the Seven.

Unlock the Varuna Gatha quest in Genshin Impact

There you'll find an aranara surrounded by enemies. Help him to trigger the quest.

Stage 1: Varuna Gatha (The main quest)

  1. Follow the aranara to a high point. The aranara asks you to eliminate the Fongus in the trees.

  2. Then return to Arapandu at the resting point. He will give you a new mission.
  3. The new mission takes you to a small cave in a tree. There you will find three stones with elongated heads. Point their "beaks" at the central stone, so that they appear to be pointing at it.

Our tip: To reach them more easily, use Four-Leaf Sigils. You can activate more of them by using the Dendro element on the golden pistils. What's more, you can pick up a Dendroculus by jumping from tree to tree.

This completes the first part of the Varuna Gatha quest in Genshin Impact, earning you 40 Primo-gems and 3 Hero's Wit.

The 3 essential Varuna Gatha sub-quests

The Varuna Gatha quest in Genshin Impact is now divided into 3 distinct branches to be completed in the order of your choice.

1. The Memory of Stone

You now move on to the Varuna Gatha sub-quest: The Memory of Stone. Go to the objective to talk to Aranakula.

Aranakula Varuna Gatha Genshin Impact

  1. Start by escorting the anarana without being spotted by the enemies. To do this, avoid the red circles that appear around them. The aranara will eventually lead you to a stone sculpture.
  2. Clean the spores on them by interacting with them.

  3. Then descend underground. After exchanging a few words with Paimon, follow the fairy who guides you outside. She will show you where the three stones are. You must point their heads towards the large stele in the centre.

Once the three stones are correctly positioned, the Memory of Stone quest ends.

2. Irate Iron Chunk

The second quest in Varuna Gatha Genshin Impact is Irate Iron Chunk. Talk to Arabalika in the ruins of Dahri. He will put you to the test by asking you to face several guardians of the ruins.

He then asks you to lower the water level by activating a mechanism. You can then descend into the depths. By following the path indicated, you will eventually find 3 new stones. Orient them so that they all point to the one in the middle. The green lines indicate their location.

⚡ My tip: I recommend a team with good elemental DPS (Electro/Dendro) to break shields.

3. Slumbering Roots

It's now time to move on to the next quest in Varuna Gatha: Slumbering Roots in Genshin Impact.

Location Slumbering Roots Varuna Gatha

  1. Look for Arakunti in the grove of dreams and climb down through a hole partly hidden by branches.

  2. Play a melody on your lyre. This is how you meet Arakunti. He asks you to follow him to a branch, then play the music to enter the world of dreams.

  3. Orient the three stones. They should point towards the large central tree. As before, green lines will help you to locate them more easily.

  4. Gain height to play the music at the indicated point and return to the real world.

Final Varuna Gatha by Genshin Impact: A Prayer for Rain on the Fecund Land

You've finally reached A Prayer for Rain on the Fecund Land, the final Varuna Gatha sub-quest in Genshin Impact. You find all the aranaras you've just helped. They are now asking you to heal the great tree:

  1. Go down into its meanders, following the point indicated on the map. You can pick up a Dendroculus as you go, as well as activating a teleportation point once you've reached the depths.

  2. After talking to the aranaras, try to clean up the spore. There, an enemy attacks you, then runs away. Go after him and hit him until he escapes again. He'll do this to you several times, until you finish him off once and for all.
