Cleansing Defilement quest guide - Genshin Impact

The Cleansing Defilement quest is the third part of the quest series in the world Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual. To complete it, you still need to break three more barriers, all of which are in different locations. By completing the Cleansing Defilement quest in Genshin Impact, you will be able to break through 2 of them. But to do so, you will have to solve several puzzles. Prerequisite to access the Cleansing Defilement quest in Genshin Impact

To unlock the Cleansing Defilement quest in Genshin Impact, you must first complete the first two parts of the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual world quest :

• A Strange Story in Konda;
• Sacrificial Offering.

Purify the shrine in Auraumi

In Genshin Impact, the quest Cleansing Defilement proposes to break 2 barriers. The first one is located in the north of Narukami Island, in Auraumi.

Access the shrine of the Cleansing Defilement quest in Genshin Impact

Teleport northwest to the teleportation point on the north side of Narukami Island. As you head north to Araumi, you'll find several mechanisms, including Electro pillars to activate.

The first one is surrounded by enemies, you just have to defeat them to activate it. The second one is linked to a puzzle, to solve it launch Electro attacks on the blocks until the same symbol is visible everywhere. To make it easier, go over an archer hero, then shoot the block on the top right twice. Open the chest and activate the Electro pillar.

Shoot the ^3rd and ^4th Electro pillar, which will unlock the cube surrounded by golden glyphs. Activate it to reach the ruined tower next to it. You will find an Electroculus above and a precious chest below.

Use your Memento Lens on the 3 kitsune statues, then activate the steles that have just been revealed on the walls. A passage suddenly opens below you.

Once down, use the Reminiscence Lens on the kitsune statue facing you. This brings up an Electrogranum tree. Interact with it to cross the Electric Barrier.

You will then see 3 statues of kitsune, launch an Electro attack on the biggest one to recover an Amulet in the shape of parchment.

Solving the puzzle

For the first puzzle in the Cleansing Defilement quest in Genshin Impact, cross the Electric Barrier again to discover a shrine to purify. Begin by interacting with the lantern closest to your position to place the amulet in your possession. A complex pattern appears in front of you.

To reproduce it, use your Lens of Reminiscence on the kitsune between two tree branches on the right side of the room. This action makes a lantern appear, correct the order so that you have 2 symbols.

Then, head to the north of the room, where you will find a second kitsune statue. Use the Memento Lens again to materialize another lantern. This time, leave it alone and go to the one in the center to adjust the order so that there are 3 symbols.

Validate your pattern on the central lantern, a new samurai will challenge you.

Purify the shrine in the northeast of the Kamisato estate

To break the second barrier of the Cleansing Defilement quest in Genshin Impact, gain the Kamisato area.

Recover the key amulet

As in the first part of the Cleansing Defilement quest in Genshin Impact, you must first collect an amulet. To do this, go to the northeast of the Kamisato area. Use your Memento Lens on the smaller fox, then perform an Electro attack on the larger fox.

Access to the sanctuary

The shrine of the Cleansing Defilement quest is located in a cave. Its entrance is located on a small island northeast of your position. Take a barge to get there. You'll see 3 kitsune statues surrounding a smaller one. To clear the passage, use your Memento Lens on it. As you jump into the hole, don't forget to pick up the Electroculus.

Solve the second puzzle of the Cleansing Defilement quest in Genshin Impact

Once in the sanctuary, you will find yourself in a highly electrified area. In order to survive, remember to take Electrogranum regularly. As you are used to, go and place the amulet in the first lantern to make a pattern appear.

To reproduce it, start by moving to the lantern to the right of your position and place 3 symbols there. The one just above it, still on the right, should have 2 symbols. For the one at the top of the shrine, choose 3 symbols.

You can then go back to the central lantern to pray. This time, you will have to fight 2 samurais. Try to defeat them at the same time otherwise the second one will regenerate.
