Each set in Teamfight Tactics brings unique systems to the game. Set 8 had Hero Augments, Set 9 introduced Legends, and now Set 10 shines with Headliners. We'll break down exactly what they do and take a look at the best Headliners in TFT, ranked in our Tier List.
Before we dive into our TFT Headliner tier list, it's important to take a look at how exactly Headliners work and what they do.
Headliner is a new mechanic added with Set 10. A Headliner is an automatically upgraded Champion offered in the shop, which appears as a 2-star unit. As a Headliner, the Champion gains unique bonuses, as well as doubled effectiveness of one of their Traits.
Only one of the Champions in your shop appears as a Headliner and you can only have one Headliner at a time. You'll see a different Headliner in your shop every refresh if you don't currently have one, or every four refreshes if you do.
The best Headliners in TFT generally depends on your comp. While some are stronger than others, what ultimately will decide your Headliner will be your chosen comp, and if you're lucky enough to find one. For example, the Heartsteel comp thrives if you can find a Heartsteel Headliner, and will always aim for one.
It's possible to simply build comps around finding strong Headliners in TFT and even if that's not your choice, having the strongest Headliner certainly won't hurt. We've put together a TFT Headliner tier list, ranking all Champions by their strength as a Headliner. Our list ranges from S+ all the way to D rank, with the former being the best, while the latter is the worst.
Rank | Champions | Best Headliner Trait | Best Comps |
---|---|---|---|
S+ | Yorick | Pentakill | Pentakill, Fast 9 |

Moving onto A tier, the Champions here are still very powerful, but not the absolute top dogs. They're all still very good choices and very much can win you games, but may struggle if facing some of the S tier picks. The good thing about these Champions is that they'll be less contested and as such much easier to 3-star than the S tier Champions.

Up next on the TFT Headliner tier list is B tier. These Champions start to become weaker as Headliners, but still have a good it of power, especially the B+ ranked Champions. At B tier, these should mainly be picked as part of a niche comp, or if you're struggling to find the ideal Headliner for your chosen comp.

At C tier, these Champions are outclassed by the best Headliners in TFT Set 10. In fact, the number of Champions this far down the list is quite low, as we're looking at low power levels. It'd almost be best to avoid picking any of these up, but if you're struggling to find anything else to fit your comp (or just really like these Champions), here's how they match up.
Rank | Champions | Best Headliner Trait | Best Comps |
---|---|---|---|
C | Caitlyn | 8-Bit | Edgelords, 8-Bit |
C | Gragas | Disco | Disco, EDM |
C | Lulu | Hyperpop | Annie reroll, Spellweavers & Sentinels |
C | Ekko | Spellweaver | Jazz, Annie reroll, True Damage |
C | Nami | Disco | Disco |
C | Garen | Sentinel | 8-Bit, Edgelords |
Last but not least is D Tier. At this point we have just four Champions, which rank amongst the worst Headliners in TFT. This is simply due to their low power level, the usefulness of their Traits compared to other Champions, and how they fit in most comps. You should be avoiding these Champions as your Headliner, as there should be better options for just about every comp.
Rank | Champions | Best Headliner Trait | Best Comps |
---|---|---|---|
D | Kennen | True Damage | Jazz, Annie reroll |
D | Sett | Mosher | Country, Heartsteel |
D | K'Sante | Sentinel | Heartsteel |
D | Aphelios | Rapidfire | Heartsteel, Punk |
That's that for our Tier list of best Headliners in TFT, including which Trait is generally the strongest for all Champions, and some of the comps they work best in. Remember that while picking the strongest Headliners is a good idea, it's also important to consider your comp and choose the best one, as well as the state of the game. If other players will be contesting your Headliner, they'll be much more difficult to find, and it may be worth looking to find a slightly less powerful one.
