It's been two days since version 1.6 of Stardew Valley mobile was released, and we've just learned that one of the most eagerly-awaited features is finally available... even if it's still well hidden! Eric Barone aka ConcerneApe, the solo dev behind the famous life sim, has revealed that it is now possible to access Stardew Valley mobile multiplayer mode, which is still at the experimental stage. But how? We tell you all about it!
Stardew Valley mobile multiplayer mode: do you know the Konami code?
It's not exactly a secret any more: Stardew Valley on mobile has featured an experimental multiplayer mode since the arrival of version 1.6 of the game. And it was ConcernedApe itself that revealed it on X :
The tweet is accompanied bya full guide to enjoying the coop mode. But since we're being nice here at Mobi.gg, we've summarised the steps you need to follow to try out Stardew Valley's multiplayer mode on your mobile. To do this, you'll need the Konami code, which is used in many of the Japanese developer and publisher's games.
Once you've downloaded version 1.6 of Stardew, you'll see four groups of leaves in the four corners of the game's logo on the home screen. This is where the Konami code comes in handy! You'll need to click on the leaves, in this order: top, top, bottom, bottom, left, right, left, right.
Then click on the query button at the bottom right of the home screen. Exit the "?" menu and you'll see a "coop" button.
Stardew Valley mobile multiplayer mode is still in development
The 'coop' button, which you'll have unlocked using the Konami code, lets you create a multiplayer game, or join another player's game. For the latter option, you'll need the IP address of your host.
On the other hand, if you're hosting a multiplayer game of Stardew Valley yourself, you'll need to create your farm first. But be careful, you need to be connected to the same network as the other players. The game host can also perform a port forwarding.
Eric Barone has warned players that Stardew Valley mobile multiplayer mode is far from perfect, with bugs and connection problems that can spoil the experience. The solo dev recommends that you host the game on a PC to avoid such problems.
Nevertheless, if you're curious, don't hesitate to try out this new feature, which could arrive more officially in the near future!
