Release of Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains

You may have missed the news, as the game has had a rather low-key marketing campaign (unlike Pokémon TCG Pocket, released yesterday), but today marks the release of Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains. Based on the anime of the same name, the game has had a rather bumpy ride but is now available globally on Android and iOS.

Fights for the release of Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains

Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains is a strategy-oriented gacha game with turn-based combat, so if you've already played Seven Deadly Sins Grand Cross, you won't be lost!

The game is based on a card system that you'll need to use wisely. Gather four characters to form a team, move the cards around, merge them to gain power and use your characters' ultimate strategically.

After a soft launch and closure, the release of Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains is official

Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains has had a few twists and turns. Released on 9 November 2023 as a soft launch in certain regions and developed by KOMOE Game, it didn't even last a year before announcing its closure on 26 August 2024, due to the end of its contract with the publisher.

Today, however, the title is making a comeback with FunCat Games, and Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains is now an official global release. This raises questions about what will happen next, as it seems that games based on the Tokyo Ghoul licence have been hit by a curse (Tokyo Ghoul Dar War, Tokyo Ghoul: Re Invoke and Tokyo Ghoul: Carnaval have all been shut down).

We're still hoping that Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains will escape this curse. In the meantime, if you fancy giving it a try, it's available now on Android and iOS.
