Some time ago, the team behind the Pokémon MOBA announced the upcoming release of two new fighters. We now know the name and release date of the first one to be integrated Pokémon Unite : Azumarill.
Pokémon Unite : Azumarill coming soon
The arrival of this new character was announced in a tweet from the Pokémon Unite account. The image shows a classified file containing clues to the identity of this Pokémon. In particular, two of the photos vaguely reveal parts of his body.
Nevertheless, that's all it took for fans of the licence to band together to find any relevant information. They quickly deduced the name of the next Pokémon Unite champion: Azumarill.
Since then, a 30-second teaser from Azumarill has confirmed the rumours and given us a glimpse of the range of its capabilities.
A versatile Water/Fairy fighter
As a reminder, Azumarill is a Pokémon of the Water/Fairy type. It first appeared in the second generation of games Pokémon : Gold and Silver. It is the evolution of Azurill and Marill, present in entry 184 of the Pokédex.
Physically, Azumarill has rabbit ears on an egg-shaped body. Its zigzag tail ends in a small blue ball which it uses to attack. It is a versatile fighter that should be able to both defend and inflict great damage. However, it will be weak against Plant, Electrik and Poison attacks.
Since the release of Pokémon Unite in July 2021, the roster of 23 characters available at launch has continued to grow. Currently, there are 33 fighters in the roster. This number will soon be increased to 34 with the imminent release of the next Pokémon Unite champion: Azumarill April 7, 2022.
All eyes are now on the next Pokémon to be released, with further clues to its identity to be revealed shortly.
