Pokémon GO finally unlocks the feature everyone's been waiting for!

Pokémon GO Remote Trades

Today, the Pokémon Company is showing us that we must believe in our dreams and never give up. Because, almost 10 years after its release, its augmented reality game is finally going to include a feature that fans have been clamouring for. Let's take a look at Pokémon GO Remote Trades.

Pokémon GO finally launches Remote Trades

Pokémon TCG Pocket took less time to offer this feature, which Pokémon GO is only now unlocking, in December 2025 (almost 10 years after its release). I'm talking, of course, about the ability to trade Pokémon! Any fans of the game reading this are hyperventilating. But be warned, you may be in for a rude awakening.

The ability to trade your little monsters, Pokémon GO Remote Trades, comes alongside the Friends Forever feature.

Friends Forever for Pokémon GO Remote Trades

It's a whole new level of friendship, even higher than Best Friend, that you'll need to reach in order to enjoy Pokémon trading. Did you really think you could get new Pokémon so easily?

So how does Pokémon GO Remote Trades work?

As you'll have gathered, you won't be able to trade Pokémon with just any Pokémon GO player. To begin with, you'll need to earn enough Friendship Points - 90 of them - to reach the Friends Forever level. Three months is the time it will take to unlock this status and Long Distance Trading. Yes, you can only collect one Friendship Point per day.

But how do Pokémon GO Remote Trades work in practice? Start by selecting three Pokémon you're interested in from your Forever Friends. They will then select the Pokémon they want to trade. Once again, not all Pokémon are eligible! Pokémon caught in the last 30 days, Pokémon that have already been traded, Obscure Pokémon, Fabulous Pokémon, Pokémon that defend Gyms and Energy Sources... And many others are not eligible for Pokémon GO Remote Trades.

Now, this probably isn't what players were expecting. But it's better than nothing, "only" 10 years after the game's release! No word yet on when this feature will be available in France. For the moment, it's being launched in New Zealand , and will soon be available worldwide.
