Check out the weekly recap of mobile gaming news on Android and iOS for the week of February 14th to 20th, 2022! We'll let you read it all below. ⬇️
1️⃣ While Valentine's Day events have seen the light of day on all your favourite mobile games, some titles have offered major updates alongside their temporary events. Among them, we find Genshin Impact and its 2.5 update which finally brings the much awaited Electro heroine Yae Miko alongside the reruns of Raiden Shogun and Kokomi. These reruns will surely be the key to a better composition to face the Abyss or the new World Boss that you will have to discover in-game. For the more creative, update 2.5 is also an opportunity to create your own dungeon with the Divine Ingenuity event, starting March 2, and invite your friends to venture in.
2️⃣ In perfect sync with the Genshin MAJ, we discover TFT Set 6.5 Neon Nights. With this new set, Riot's auto-chess now has an additional 80 Hextech Augments and about 20 new and old heroes coming to the board to replace other champions from Set 6 Gizmos & Gadgets. Say hello to Silco the criminal genius, Renata Glasc the toxic carry and Zeri the electric nova creator. On the other hand, say goodbye to Taric, Yuumi, Samira or any of the Academic champions removed for Set 6.5 in favour of the new Hextech, Rivals and Attacker types. The spirit of the Arcane series hovers over the TFT board and some augments between magic and technology allow even sadistic lose streaks fans to regain HP for a memorable comeback. Discover the details of this new set in our dedicated article.
3️⃣ Still in the League of Legends universe, Legends of Runeterra is getting The Great Adventure, a new early year expansion. Check out all 48 new maps in the expansion here, as well as the 4 new champions and 2 new keywords brought in with this update. The wild champions are in the spotlight with Udyr, Yuumi or the Yordle Gnar, but we let you discover all that in-game.
4️⃣ Epic Seven has been pumping out new features for 2022 in a developer livestream. Not all of the events have a definitive release date yet, but we've put together a rundown of the announcements that are expected to arrive in-game in the coming year for you. On the agenda is a new side story called Game of Princes, a new 4-star heroine called Armin the Naughty Cat, a global tournament in the works and even special content to be completed in guilds.
5️⃣ After the release of Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel with dated graphics and gameplay that is quite hermetic for new players, it is the turn of the card game Pokémon to follow suit. The title is not yet ready for a worldwide launch. However, the beta of The Pokémon Trading Card Game Live (the official long name) will start on February 22 in Canada. Hang on to your VPNs (we recommend using Cyberghost year-round, like us) or be patient, but for now the game is stingy with news, apart from a few screenshots on Twitter published this week.
6️⃣ Facebook has become Meta and miHoYo (developer of Genshin Impact) becomes HoYoverse. The aim is to make a place for itself in the upcoming metaverse, by offering various and diverse virtual experiences around miHoYo licenses (IPs). Announced during the Genshin 2.5 Live Update, a short anime episode retracing the events of the Inazuma story for players of Genshin Impact was announced. However, we will have to wait to discover new HoYoverse experiences inspired by Honkai Impact: Star Rail or even Genshin Impact.
7️⃣ Gear Inc and Mars Retail Group are opening pre-registration for M&M's Adventure on Playstore. Android players can already pre-register for the as-yet-unannounced release of the colourful match-3/puzzle-style title with gravity-responsive clusters of marbles. At launch, the game will feature over 1000 levels and a competitive leaderboard. M&M's Adventure honestly looks like a copy and paste of existing mobile games, which themselves copied Flash games, with a rather cheap skin M&M's. It will probably be a very forgettable game, unless you are really hungry.
8️⃣ If you have Netflix, you've been seeing it trending for days if not weeks and you may have even watched it to find out what it was about... Well the K-Drama All of Us Are Dead is becoming a mobile game and will even be ported to other platforms. Brought to you by Korean developer Ikina games, All of Us Are Dead mobile will be a narrative game mixing zombies and survival, similar to the studio's previous title Order Zero. There is a lot of hype around this title, which ranks third among the most viewed Netflix series, behind La Casa de Papel and Squid Game. However, you will have to be patient to play it since All of Us Are Dead will be released on PC in the second half of 2022 and only in 2023 on mobile and consoles internationally.
9️⃣ End game for Aotu World... This RPG mixing tactics and Gacha released barely 6 months ago won't have taken long before saying goodbye to its players. The game will officially close its doors on April 11th 2022. No need to try to install it to see a dying game, the title is no longer available on the Android and iOS stores since a few days. It's a pity, because Aotu World had some good propositions and still honoured the original anime series despite an unappreciated automatic mode at Mobi.gg.
🔟 Star Wars: Hunters, the 4v4 competitive game offered by Zynga, is getting a new game mode, 2 new maps and 2 new Hunters. If you're a long-time fan of Star Wars games, you'll be surprised by this revival of Huttball mode, a game not seen since Bioware's 2011 MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, where the goal is to score as many goals as possible while avoiding the traps and hazards of the new map Dusty Ridge. The Great Hunt, an Escort mode map, will see players compete to carry a giant harpoon from the desert of Tatooine to the forest moon of Endor.
1️⃣1️⃣ According to a release, 7 new Supercell games are currently in the works. It is not known if the three announced Clash games, namely Clash Heroes, Clash Mini and Clash Quest are part of this list, or if it's really 7 as yet unannounced titles. While this is probably good news and will delight fans of Supercell's iconic Clash or Boom Beach universe, there is also concern about the weight of quality over quantity, even if Tencent's investment is there to support these productions. As an example, Boom Beach Frontlines didn't really inspire us despite the expertise of the developers, whose first successful titles are already 10 years old. In any case, the Clash content to come over the next few years looks to be dense and colourful.
1️⃣2️⃣ To stay with Supercell, Boom Beach Frontlines is planning its release in more countries for Q2 2022 as well as the appearance of an alliance feature. The 9v9 fighting game will therefore soon benefit from the addition of new map mechanics and changes to its player progression system. Boom Beach Frontlines alliances are not dissimilar to Clash of Clans and it is easy to imagine the future integration of alliance wars in addition to the new game modes.
1️⃣3️⃣ You can now pre-register for Hitman Sniper: The Shadows with a view to picking up bonus rewards when it releases on March 3, 2022. The Shadows is set after the disappearance of Agent 47, and you will play as different snipers with their own strengths and weaknesses. You'll soon be able to travel the world from assassination to assassination with Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, the sequel to Hitman Sniper: Assassins.
1️⃣4️⃣ Bonus NFT game of the week, Gunship Battle Crypto Conflict relies on as many keywords in its title as possible to disguise its lack of drinkable gameplay in its marketing operation. If you haven't overdosed on crypto and blockchain yet, you should know that A3: Still Alive, an all-auto Korean MMO, is going through a blockchain update this week. Always more play-to-earn with a minimum of interest in the game itself, I hope this is not the only future of mobile games. And then, even if it means making a game that combines blockchain with lore, why not bet on a Superman: The Ultimate Cryptonite? I'm just saying that to help publishers who are obviously lacking inspiration...
