In this recap #194, we take a look at the week's must-have mobile games releases, mobile news and pre-registrations/test phases not to be missed.

Sit back and relax as we round up all the week's mobile games news! On the agenda: the announcement of Disco Elysium on Android, the release of DC: Dark Legion and Scopely's takeover of Niantic.

Mobile games releases of the week

This week has been rich in release announcements, with many games now available on the stores:

  • DC Dark Legion is out on Play Store and App Store, featuring PvP and PvE battles between Gotham's heroes and villains. Build your team and optimise your synergies to progress through the campaign.
  • Be Brave, Barb, a demanding platformer from the creator of Daddish, is out on Play Store and App Store. Featuring 100 obstacle-packed levels, this premium game is priced at $8.
  • Songs of Conquest, with its strategic 2.5D gameplay, is available on Play Store and App Store for $12. Challenge necromancers in tactical hexagonal battles and explore the cursed universe of Loth.
  • ETE Chronicle, an RPG combining mechas and gacha, hits Play Store and App Store this week. Pilot war machines on land and in the air to dominate the battlefield.

Then there's the diorama puzzle game Possessions: Puzzle Vistas, which is available for free on the App Store and opens for pre-registration on Play Store. Quilts of Calico, a relaxing board game with cats, is available on Play Store and App Store for $10. And finally, Cute Invasion, a quirky shooter, is coming to Play Store. Take on the Cuties, cute but destructive creatures, in an atmosphere combining black humour and chaos.

Pre-registration, announcements, updates and test phases

  • Disco Elysium is coming to Play Store in an adapted version, with content broken down to suit a more dynamic mobile format. The port also features 360° interactive illustrations to enhance exploration and clue gathering.
  • Honor of Kings is expanding with a hero shooter in development at TiMi StudApp Store, riding the wave of popularity of the genre. Little information has been released, but the game is aiming for a worldwide release after a long wait since 2021.
  • Odin Valhalla Rising, an MMORPG inspired by Norse mythology, is gearing up for a global launch in 2025, with four kingdoms and four playable classes. Pre-registration opens on 3 April for release on mobile and PC.
  • Marvel Mystic Mayhem begins its second closed beta on 20 March on the Play Store in several regions. This turn-based tactical RPG lets you put together a team of three Marvel heroes to fight Nightmare.

Continuing with the announcements, Netflix Puzzled enters soft launch on Play Store with daily puzzles to stimulate your logic and reflexes. As for the card game Shadowverse Worlds Beyond, it's opening pre-registration on Play Store, App Store and PC via Steam and Epic Store.

Apple Arcade is announcing its April games with Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE and RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic+, which will be available to subscribers from 3 April. Project Dreams, a mobile rhythm game, has also been announced by renowned VTubers Hololive.

For its part, NZ Mobile, Tencent's adaptation of Assault Fire, is beginning tests in China. Pondlife, due for release on 22 March on Play Store and App Store, will offer a relaxing fish-collecting experience. And finally, Elysia The Astral Fall, an RPG very similar to AFK Journey, is entering testing in the UK.

There's more from the mobile JV industry this week:

  • Crunchyroll Game Vault is adding two new RPGs to its catalogue, Destiny's Princess and Ys I Chronicles. The subscription continues to attract nostalgic fans with classic titles.
  • Niantic is bought by Scopely for 3.5 billion dollars, confirming the rumours. This takeover should enable AR games such as Pokémon GO and Monster Hunter Now to evolve over the long term.
