The ElectronicsHub site has carried out a study of the 400 most-used applications in the Google Play Store to determine which contain the most bugs. The result is clear: the most buggy mobile game is one of the most popular titles of all time. Let's end the suspense: it's Pokémon GO!
Pokémon GO has more than 153 bugs per 1,000 reviews
ElectronicsHub analysed 400 applications, including social networking apps, dating apps, shopping apps and, of course, mobile games on Android. For each app, the site collected the 5,000 most recent user reviews (over 1,833,000 reviews in total) and counted the number of occurrences of the words 'bugs', 'problem' or 'glitch'.
In the case of Pokémon GO, ElectronicsHub counted 153.5 mentions of bugs per 1,000 reviews, giving a total of 767.5 among the 5,000 reviews analysed.
The game from Niantic (which claims to want to optimise the user experience) is said to be subject to numerous crashes at launch or when opening an in-game map. More recently, there have been a number of bugs during the latest Community Days, including Buddy Pokémon and itemps that are impossible to recover.
Other mobile games singled out by ElectronicsHub study
Just behind Pokémon Go Plus, the list of the 10 most buggy games on the Google Play Store includes the following titles:
PUBG mobile (88.3 mentions of bugs / 1000 reviews)
Free Fire: The Chaos (87.2 mentions of bugs / 1000 reviews)
By contrast, the Play Store's best performers include Solitaire, Royal Match and Domino Dream, with fewer than 13 bugs per 1,000 reviews.
While the release of the ElectronicsHub study will certainly not have any impact on the popularity of Pokémon GO, the game with over a billion downloads, we can hope that it will. l downloads, we can hope that it will encourage Niantic to improve the stability of its augmented reality game.
