After 6 years of existence, Terra Battle will soon close its servers. This closure is not a total surprise, however. It follows the shutdown of Terra Battle 2 in 2018 and Terra Wars in 2019. For the Mistwalker studio, also creator of the Final Fantasy games, it is a page that is turning!
Terra Battle is a very popular mobile game in Japan. In France, however, the game had also managed to find its audience. However, the audience has dropped significantly lately. The competition is tough among mobile games! While the game relies on very tactical battles and somewhat minimalist graphics, it is struggling to survive.
The studio revealed that it was no longer able to guarantee a quality gaming experience to its players, which motivated the decision to close on June 30th. No more time to lose for the fans of the first hour, you have only one month left to enjoy!
Despite this violent news for the fans, the closure will be soft. Today, the studio announced the closure schedule and blocked the purchase of in-game currency. For those who still have money in stock, there is still time to spend it.
Unfortunately, on 15 June, it will no longer be possible to save or transfer data. The game will still be available, but it will no longer be possible to make requests to support. In addition, all services will close on the fateful date of 30 June... But the French will be entitled to a little bonus: the closure will take place precisely on 1 July at 2am, French time.
Good news for fans of the game, there will be life after Terra Battle! Mistwalker is currently working on a new game project for the Apple Arcade called "Fantasian". It should feature the principle of dioramas (plain backgrounds that serve as a support) and a very Japanese aesthetic. The news that could console fans is that the project is progressing well and could be released very quickly on Apple's subscription service.
Update 18 September 2021: Fantasian has been released on the App Store in 2 parts via the Apple Arcade service.
