If you liked Limbo and are fond of atmospheric games, then Blackfield might just catch your eye. Currently in development, Visionary's 2025 title plunges you into a dark and mysterious parallel universe. Make your way through desolate landscapes and escape from nightmarish creatures in an attempt to find your family.
In BlackField, you play as Marta, an 8-year-old girl searching for her lost family. She must survive in a world ruled by machines and creatures.
To do this, Marta will have to collect and prepare food, craft items and intelligently manage her resources to progress through the different environments.
In the course of your quest, you'll explore the planet of Blackfield via an underground metro system and discover different environments and points of interest.
Just as in Limbo, survival and progress in the story will be punctuated by puzzles that will call on all your neurons. Your strategic mind will also be put to the test, because as well as managing resources properly, you'll need to forge alliances with machines and humans to improve your chances of survival.
Blackfield propels you into a parallel universe where what's left of humanity is trying to survive among robots and strange creatures.
Each environment on the planet of Blackfield is hand-crafted with a minimalist, dark and almost horrific aesthetic. The gigantic infrastructures and robots make us feel tiny, a bit like Little Nightmares. And to top it all off, the oppressive music reinforces the game's disturbing aspect.
In short, Blackfield will offer you a real experience, rather than a simple survival game. Still in development, Blackfield could well arrive on Android, iOS and PC via Steam by next year. We'll keep you posted on its release date!
