How to install Steam Guard on mobile: step-by-step guide

Like the vast majority of PC gamers, you probably have a Steam account, which contains your entire library of games that you have purchased. But that's not all! Your account is also linked to all the items you've won, bought or traded from games like Counter-Strike 2, Rust, and Team Fortress 2 via reputable trading sites like Tradeit, which can be worth a lot of money. And it's these items that hackers are interested in.

That's why Steam has introduced Steam Guard, a dual authentication tool that lets you secure your account using your smartphone. When you want to log in, the Steam Guard authenticator installed on your mobile will provide you with a unique and impossible-to-guess code, which you will need to enter to access your account.

Steps for installing Steam Guard on mobile

As usual with Steam, the steps involved in installing Steam Guard are a little complex. But don't panic, we'll explain everything in detail:

1. Start by downloading the Steam application from Play Store or App Store.

3. Once you've logged in, you'll immediately be sent to the Steam Guard tab. If you already have the Steam application on your smartphone, simply go to the menu in the bottom right-hand corner, where you'll find the Steam Guard tab.
4. Now select "Add authentificator".

7. You'll get a recovery code. Write it down somewhere, you might need it!

That's it, you've just installed Steam Guard on mobile! Now, when you want to connect to Steam, you can choose between several options : connect via a QR code with the Steam app on your mobile, enter your name and password (Steam will then send you a notification to confirm the connection) or enter the Steam Guard code, available on the app.
