With the latest patch, new champions have appeared in LoL: Wild Rift. Among them is Rakan, a mischievous support who never misses a beat when it comes to turning his opponents on their head. With his high mobility and versatile skill set, he's a great pick that promises anything but boring games. Looking for adventure? Grab our Rakan support Wild Rift guide to learn how to master the champion at your fingertips.
From his numerous dashes to his special synergy with his companion Xayah, not to mention his crowd control combo... The schedule is full and the Vastaya is not that easy to play! We explain it all to you!
Rakan has a very low attack range and has to dive deep into the opponent's team to maximise the use of his skills. However, the Vastaya cannot count on huge defensive statistics... And his skills do not help him particularly in this field. In his recommended build, we find a utility side to stick to his role of support, but also tank items, to not die too quickly. Rakan in support on Wild Rift is fast, but it is not invulnerable either!
At level 1, there is a real debate about which skill to improve first. Depending on his choice, Rakan can play more or less aggressively at the beginning of the lane. But in terms of order, it seems quite clear that priority should be given to Triumphal Entry. One then invests in Valse guerrière, then in Rémige rayonnante.
Enchanted feathers (passive) | Rakan gains a shield every 40 seconds. When he hits a champion with his skills, the delay is reduced. |
Radiant remige | The Vastaya draws a feather in front of him and wounds the first enemy hit. If the latter is a champion or an epic monster, after a short delay, the feather heals Rakan and his close allies. |
Triumphal entry | Rakan rushes to the target area and throws all the enemies in the area of effect into the air. |
Warrior waltz | The holder flies on an allied champion to offer him a shield. He has 5 seconds to cast the skill a second time for free. |
Ultimate dance (final) | Rakan gains a big bonus in speed to run on the battlefield. When he hits enemies, he wounds and charms them for 1 second. The first enemy hit gives a bonus acceleration. |
In the lane phase, Rakan supports the opportunity to have fun. He can afford to play aggressive with Triumphal Entry to control one or more enemies. Before the enemy falls back, you should ideally place Radiant Remige for extra damage and a little sustain. Then, it does not remain you any more but to return in safety on your ally using your Warrior Waltz. Repeat the operation as many times as necessary to gradually decrease the life of your opponents and to put rhythm in the game. If you get bored, don't hesitate to go and say hello to the midlane with your routine.
After level 5, Rakan gets his ultimate skill. This skill is ideal for engaging in teamfights. With your speed bonus, try to hit as many enemy champions as possible. Keep in mind that during your ultimate, you have the possibility to launch your other skills! This way, you can dance left and right to control all nearby opponents. The Ultimate Dance + Triumphal Entry rotation will render your target harmless until your team does the job. In case of extreme emergency, Ultimate Dance can also be used to escape.
The answer is quite obvious... Rakan has an excellent natural synergy with his partner Xayah. The two inseparables benefit from a unique mechanic in Wild Rift. They can back together in unison and their skills are enhanced when they are paired. Thus, Warrior Waltz is twice as powerful if the allied champion is Xayah! You should therefore try to combine them in the draft phase. Otherwise, Vastaya can provide a solid base for an ultimate fromOrianna. The latter can put its ball on the support and wait for the latter to enter the fray. But do it discreetly or Xayah will be jealous!
Rakan is a very mobile champion, but the situation becomes problematic if you can't dodge crowd control. Lux is known to be a counter to Rakan. Rakan is fast, but his engagement is phoned in when he starts running at his enemies... He runs, but he runs in a straight line. A good Lux will then have all the time in the world to throw its cage and trap the bird. It is difficult to dance in these conditions. A Rakan in a cage is a Rakan in danger. The support is still fragile, especially if it does not manage to activate the Aftermath rune. 😭
Rakan has great dexterity and walls are not really an obstacle. To escape or to help his team, the support can easily pass over them with a Warrior Waltz or aTriumphal Entry. You should also not hesitate to use your allies as launch pads. With a quick execution of your skills, Rakan can find surprising angles of attack and cover a long distance very quickly.
Finally, don't forget that Radiant Snow also heals if the skill hits an epic monster. So, don't hesitate to spam the skill when doing a Dragon or a Nashor to heal your team and make it easier to take the neutral objective.
