The system of Sword x Staff classes is a little complex, especially when you're new to the game. In this guide, I'd like to tell you a little more about the starting classes and their subclasses. Do your best to choose the class that best suits your style of play!
There is a Sword x Staff class hierarchy. At the start of the game, you'll have to choose between two classes: Warrior and Mage. Then, from class level 18 (or total level 20), you can opt for two specialisations:
Starting Sword x Staff classes
Sword x Staff sub-classes
Warrior
Duelist or Knight
Mage
Sorcerer or Sage
To help you choose among the Sword x Staff classes, here'sa complete analysis of the starting classes and sub-classes.
The Warrior and its sub-classes in Sword x Staff
As the name suggests, the Warrior is a close combat class. They fight with a sword and have the advantage of a large amount of HP and defence. They can take a lot of damage. Warriors have two Sword x Staff sub-classes:
The Duelist
Expert in single-target DPS
Performs highly effective multi-attacks
Very good chances of survival, thanks to its resistance to damage and life theft
The Knight
Excellent single-player DPS
Perfect for boss fights / long fights
Has armour and a shield to resist damage
Inflicts debuff damage reduction on enemies
The Mage and its sub-classes in Sword x Staff
The Mage is one of the two original Sword x Staff classes. They are efficient spellcasters, capable of fighting from a distance. They inflict a lot of damage, but their HP and defence are rather low. They can also summon and provide crowd control. The Mage comes in two Sword x Staff sub-classes:
The Sorcerer
The multi-target DPS expert
Can switch elements (wind, lightning, fire, water)
The dodging pro
The perfect class for crowd control
The Sage
Inflicts damage reduction debuffs
Summoning expert
Able to heal himself
High HP
Which starting class should I choose?
Your choice of starting class in Sword x Staff depends on your preferred style of play, as well as your level.
Warrior : recommended for beginner players. Warriors have a lot of HP and even if they fight hand-to-hand, the chances of losing a fight are lower.
Mage: This Sword x Staff class is recommended for more experienced players who aren't afraid to take risks. You'll need to upgrade your character quickly, to strengthen him and increase his HP and defence.
When can I change class in Sword x Staff?
Didn't make the right choice from the initial Sword x Staff classes? To change class, you need to reach character level 100. Please note: character level is different from class level:
Character level: this is your hero's level. It is independent of your hero's class level.
Class level: this is the sum of all unlocked class levels.
