You love Mario Kart TourYou love to use your phone, but you're struggling with the phone's touch controls? Don't worry, we're here to make your life easier! Frankly, playing this game without a controller is really unpleasant, we agree. The handling is really not optimal, the phone heats up your hands, you sweat and your fingers slide on the screen... In short, we need a controller! So which controller can we use to play Mario Kart Tour? And how do you set it up? Follow the guide!
Since Mario Kart Tour developed the landscape option for mobile gaming (July 2020), it has to be said that it is a small revolution. It's hard to understand why they took so long to implement it. But it doesn't matter, because now it's easier to play horizontally with your controller! Oh joy!
Historically, Mario Kart is played with a joystick. And like many racing games, I find it unthinkable to play it with anything other than a joystick. There's nothing more enjoyable than moving your car with an analogue stick and loosely throwing turtle shells at your opponents with a button! And then, having your big fingers hiding half the screen is not the best and it spoils all the visual pleasure of the game.
Remember to check the display mode in the menu options. You have 3 choices: portrait, landscape or portrait/landscape depending on the tilt of your phone at the time of the race (this mode will be activated by default).
Note that only the races are in landscape mode. Everything else in the game (menu, shop, challenges, multiplayer, etc.) remains in portrait mode. Also, if you are using an iPhone and have locked the screen orientation, you will not be able to activate landscape mode, even if it is enabled in the game.
To play Mario Kart Tour with a controller, the solution is as follows. You have to choose a "stretch" controller in which you slide your smartphone. The advantage of this type of controller is that it can be carried around easily. This makes your phone look like a handheld console, which is very practical. Beware, not all controllers are suitable! That's why we've selected one that works perfectly.
Bluetooth
Settings application
Key mapping
Easy to use
Lightweight
The Flydigi Wee2 controller links via Bluetooth to your phone. It has its own settings app available on Google Play, the Flydigi Game Center, allowing you to configure the game and the mapping of the keys. We also recommend it for its connection speed (noinput lag on the keys), its ease of use and its lightness. However, you won't be able to charge your phone while playing, so be prepared!
Snapdragon 865+ processor
144 Hz display
12-16 GB RAM
6000 mAh battery
The Asus Rog Phone 3 is simply one of the best gaming phones on the market today. A state-of-the-art processor (Snapdragon 865+), a 144 Hz display, 12-16 GB RAM and a 6,000 mAh battery. In short, a little gem for gamers! 👌
The aim of this controller is to reproduce the movements you would normally make in touch on your smartphone. Thanks to the analogue sticks and buttons, there is no need to touch your phone. Here's how to set it up:
This setting will allow you to play with your controller in the same way as if you were touching your screen. By the way, this will work on all other games, even those that are not normally controller compatible (as is the case for Mario Kart Tour ). But for each one, you will have to make the necessary settings. The advantage is that your settings are then saved for each game.
For those dinosaurs (sorry!) who still play in portrait mode at Mario Kart Tourwe thought of you. Normally the controller is not compatible with games that are played vertically, so you need to make a special setting.
Here's our tip for setting up the controller in portrait mode:
As you are playing in vertical mode (so you will be holding your controller by its smaller side), the L button will correspond to the stick that is normally on the right. And it is the Y button that will allow you to use the objects.
And now you can play Mario Kart Tour in portrait mode if that's your preference! You will have the opportunity to challenge your friends in multiplayer mode by being much better than them. 😃
This little guide is finished, I hope you enjoyed it and that it will allow you to play well at Mario Kart Tour with a controller and finish first in all your races! Let's not hide it, it's a lot more practical, isn't it 😉
