Just unlocked this tower destroyer and its mount, but don't know how to play it? Don't panic, in this Clash Royale Hog Rider guide, we explain its pros and cons, our tips for playing this card effectively and the best deck for winning trophies fast.
Hog Rider's strengths and weaknesses
Clash Royale Hog Rider card is available from Arena 5: Spell Valley. It is a rare card that costs 4 Elixir units.
On the back of a pig and armed with his hammer, the Rider only targets opposing buildings and ignores units that stand in his way. He has a short melee range of 0.8 squares. Its damage is decent, but its attack speed is quite low, as it hits every 1.6 seconds.
Its main asset is its ability to quickly sneak up on an enemy tower. However, its life points do not allow it to resist enemy attacks for long if it is not protected.
How to play Clash Royale with Hog Rider?
To optimise your attack phases in Clash Royale, place the Hog Rider behind a tank. Be careful, however, that the tank has enough of a head start to be targeted before the Hog Rider, which moves very quickly.
To counter Hog Rider, the Skeleton Army is undoubtedly the best answer, but Minions or other large units are also very effective. In order to anticipate this reaction, make sure you can counter with a spell like Zap or Log.
Hog Rider will be useless on defense, except to buy time and draw enemies, but your deck probably contains better options.
The best Clash Royale Hog Rider deck
Now that you know the pros and cons of the card, let's see how to put together the best Clash Royale Hog Rider deck.
This deck is very offensive and complicated to play, but can take you very high in the rankings. With an average of only 2.6 Elixir units, this is a deck that requires you to keep control of the game. It's up to you to set the pace by attacking your opponent early in the game. Send your Ice Golem to the front of the line, then once it is targeted by the enemy tower, it's time for your Hog Rider to come into play.
To support your attack, send in Skeletons and Ice Spirit, your two cards that only hit for 1 Elixir. Depending on your opponent's response, use your Fireball or Log to buy your Pig Rider precious seconds.
On defense, your options are limited to two cards: the Cannon, the cheapest building in the game, and the Musketeer, to be placed at the back of the field so that it stays on your side of the deck as long as possible. The objective of this Clash Royale Hog Rider deck is to force your opponent to use his Elixir to defend so that he can't counterattack by gradually clawing life points from the opponent's towers.
That's it for our Clash Royale Hog Rider guide. You now know how to play the card and in which deck it will be most effective. For more cards and decks, check out our Clash Royale tips page.
