In this new guide to CoC troops, I'd like to introduce you to the Clash of Clans wizard - a versatile and resourceful unit. What are the rules for deploying the Wizard in battle? What are the compositions with this troop that offer better success? What are its weaknesses and strengths? These are all questions that I will answer.
The wizard wears a hooded coat, which he cinches at the waist with a leather belt. He has a beard and a moustache which make him look very cool (but don't let his friendly appearance fool you). He casts spells that take the form of balls or trails of fire when attacking the opponent.
Also, note that the wizard's appearance changes as you promote him. His cloak changes colour from level 3 onwards and his eyes turn white as soon as you upgrade him to rank 6.
You can train the Clash of Clans wizard with pink elixir in the barracks. He has excellent DPS stats and, although he moves on land, he can attack air and ground troops equally well. However, he has very few hit points and can therefore take very few hits.
The sorcerer performs his attacks from a distance like thearcher, which saves him some aggression. He has no preferred target and will occupy only 4 places in your military camps. He will engage in a duel against any building or troop that comes within his detection radius. When it does, it will stop only if :
Unlike the golem and the goblin, the Clash of Clans wizard will defend himself against all units and traps that distract his attention from the target he is attacking.
As soon as you unlock the wizard, you can grant him promotions to improve his stats. The number of rank advancements you can give him is limited to 9. Here is a summary of all the information for each rank.
Level | Cost of improvement | Duration | Level Laboratory required | Life points | Damage per second | Cost of training |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | - | - | - | 75 | 50 | 1 000 |
2 | 150 000 | 12 hours | 3 | 90 | 70 | 1 400 |
3 | 350 000 | 1 day | 4 | 108 | 90 | 1 800 |
4 | 650 000 | 1 day 12 hours | 5 | 130 | 125 | 2 200 |
5 | 1 300 000 | 2 days | 6 | 136 | 170 | 2 600 |
6 | 2 600 000 | 4 days | 7 | 175 | 185 | 3 000 |
7 | 5 000 000 | 6 days | 8 | 190 | 200 | 3 400 |
8 | 8 000 000 | 9 days | 9 | 210 | 215 | 3 800 |
9 | 10 000 000 | 13 days | 10 | 230 | 230 | 4 200 |
10 | 15 000 000 | 15 days | 11 | 250 | 245 | 4 600 |
As I usually remind you, the information in the table is not fixed and the data can vary depending on several situations. For example, you will increase the DPS and HP stats of the wizard if you use him with a rage spell.
Also, you can reduce the upgrade and/or training time with gems, magic books and various boosts available on the rewards path.
Thanks to its versatility, the Clash of Clans wizard can be used in several types of attacks - rush, GDC or farming. His ability to hit enemies from a distance and his DPS make him perfect for staying in the support zone. In a fight, he could for example protect frontline troops like the golem or the PEKKA.
The wizard can also play the same role as the archer in a scraping strategy. It would allow to clean the surroundings of the opponent's village in order to help the troops that tend to turn like the valkyrie to penetrate the heart of the enemy territory.
This troop can also help you destroy the battalion stationed in the opponent's clan castle. Its ability to attack both ground and air troops ensures that you can defend yourself against any unit. However, be sure to use a poison spell to reduce the intensity of attacks from opposing troops with high DPS.
It is also important that you deploy your Clash of Clans wizards online and not in groups like the giant. Separating the wizards when you use them will prevent them from being destroyed all at once if they are attacked by a high damage building. Also avoid deploying these units in the detection zones of erratic catapults, hell towers or eagle gunners. They are very vulnerable there.
💡 A ttack compound with the wizard
If you want to use the Clash of Clans wizard during your invasions, here are some combinations you can use:
The use of wizards in defence is a very common strategy. This is understandable, especially since it is a relevant tactic. Indeed, its strong DPS and its ability to attack both the air and the ground make it tough on your enemies.
In addition, it moves fast - which will allow it to reach the area where the fight is being launched very quickly.
If you've been reading our various Clash of Clans troop guides, you'll know that super troops are classic units that have been upgraded with exceptional abilities. The Super Warlock is no exception, and has more DPS and hit points than his alter ego.
This boosted unit also has the special Chain Magic ability which allows it to destroy multiple buildings and units simultaneously. You can use it as soon as you upgrade your Clash of Clans wizard to level 9.
The super wizard is available in two levels. In the following, I will give you an overview of all the information relevant to each level.
Level | Damage per second | 1st shock damage | Damage continued in the chain | Life points | Cost of training | City Hall level required |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
9 | 220 | 440 | 176 | 450 | 10 500 | 12 |
10 | 240 | 480 | 192 | 500 | 11 500 | 13 |
The Clash of Clans Super Wizard can serve in the same capacity as its alter ego, remaining in support of other units that are much more graceful in HP. The boosted wizard can even help you reach and clear areas that are full of defences.
To do this, you simply send a detachment of troops on which you place an invisibility spell. This battalion will attack the opposing defences while remaining invisible.
Super wizards, because of the distance of their attacks, can play an excellent role in a funneling strategy. They will create a passage that will allow the rest of your army to penetrate the interior of the opposing village and reach the desired target.
The use of super wizards as a defensive strategy is very relevant. Their ability to attack both the ground and the air will be very useful in fighting a variety of opposing troops.
Moreover, since their special ability allows them to inflict considerable damage, they will be able to annihilate a large part of the opposing army in a few attacks. This asset could even allow them to resist against robust soldiers like the dragon or the PEKKA. However, the number of places they occupy (10) will prevent you from storing enough of them in your clan castle if its level is relatively low.
