To boost your chances of dropping the game's strongest characters, Lilith Games has set up a wish list system that lets you select the heroes of each type that interest you most. So here's the best AFK Journey Hero Wish List to pick from in the early game.
The best AFK Journey Hero Wish List with meta characters
Which heroes should you put on your AFK Journey Wish List? Who will be the best investment in the long term? Here's a screenshot of the best current AFK Journey Hero Wish List to get you started.
The important picks to remember are:
Odie, the best A-rank hero that inflicts huge damage on a single target;
Smokey & Meerky for the heal and boost of your composition;
Cecia and Thoran, one for DPS and summoning and the other for the incredible tanking that prevents him from dying;
Kruger, the pugilistic hero in the red bonnet who specialises in DEF breaks;
and Rowan as a support character to give your compo some energy.
Now all you need to do is get some All-Hero Recruitment and Epic Recruitment draws! There are lots of options for getting more draws in the Noble Tavern. I've put them together for you in this AFK Journey Beginner's Guide, along with other tips to get you off to a good start in the game.
An AFK Journey wish list to optimise regularly
Some heroes will always be at the top of the rankings and you need to keep them on your ideal AFK Journey Wish List at all times. I'm thinking of Thoran, Rowan, Lyca and Hewynn, for example. Some of them are already among the most powerful characters in AFK Arena, the game that inspired Journey. Other characters shine more brightly at certain moments in the game.
That's why you need to regularly optimise your Wish List so that it remains the best as you progress.
In the early game, for example, you can choose Brutus from your Wish List of pugilistic heroes in AFK Journey. This off-tank can easily replace a Thoran or a Dahnie (if you don't already have one in your mix) and keep enemies at bay with the support of one or two supporting heroes.
It loses power later on, but having at least one copy will come in handy, especially once you've unlocked the Legendary Trial.
Similarly, at the start of the game, if you don't have any powerful healers (Hewynn or Smokey & Meerky), you can keep Fay on your AFK Journey Wish List of light-bearing heroes.
Her heal is limited to a specific area, but the fact that she also boosts your composition's ATQ gives her a practical utility if you're short on DPS.
Next, you'll probably want to optimise your Wish List after the early game. A good choice for that might be to add Eironn as a wild hero. He shines in the mid-to-late game thanks to his combos.
His tornado, which draws the enemy compo into a single point, works very well with most of the AoE champions and OP compositions in the current AFK Journey meta. It's too squishy at the start of the game, but it's well worth the investment in the second half, where it'll earn a place on your wishlist.
As for the undead heroes, Igor will earn a place on your AFK Journey Wish List after a while. He works wonders in PvP battles and can complete an undead composition. That's the kind of character
Finally, Korin will become essential to your Lightbearer composition thanks to his continuous CC and his protection of your weakest ally, and Bryon will make himself useful as a wildling hero capable of coming back to life. Both require a good investment of resources to reach the necessary power to be useful.
