The Pokémon GO Winter Holiday Event has just started! The event runs until Friday 31 December 2021 and is divided into 2 parts. Here's how to make the most of it.

Over the next few days, you'll have the opportunity to discover a number of bonuses set up to celebrate the end of the year and the arrival of new features. It's also the very first appearance of Pokémon Bergmite in Pokémon GO, which will gladly join your Pokédex.

Let's start with the bonuses and changes that are implemented globally and for the entire duration of the event.

The minions Team GO Rocket now has mostly water and ice teams. It is therefore more than advisable not to send your Charizard into battle during this period. It will be the opportunity for him to take a well-deserved holiday, right?

You can open up to 45 Gifts per day and keep up to 40 in your inventory. Make the most of it to get 7km eggs and stardust, which are usually rather complicated resources to get.

MegaAbomasnow, which is still available in the December raids, has had its PCs upgraded. A new reason to go and conquer its version shiny.

A festive set is available in the shop to personalise your avatar in a cosy and warm style. Perfect if you want to show off a cute Pokémon like Jigglypuff as a buddy.

Some Pokémon will be wearing a beautiful Christmas-themed costume. These are Pikachu, Delibird, Stantler, Spheal, Cubchoo and Glaceon. These versions are generally not upgradeable but are still worth capturing as they rarely appear in the game.

Finally, festive prizes are temporarily available for purchase in the shop:

  • Special Box (480 PokéPieces): 50 Poké Balls, 2 Premium Battle Passes, 2 Super-Incubators, 3 Star Pieces
  • Hyper Box (1,480 PokéPieces): 25 Ultra Balls, 18 Raid Passes, 5 Super-Incubators, 5 Incense
  • Adventure Box (1,480 PokéPieces): 18 Super-Incubators, 2 Incubators, 2 Incense, 4 Star Pieces

The new postcard album

This new feature will allow you tosend postcards from the PokéStops you have shot. You will also be able to pin the ones you receive from your friends to collect in the Album now available. The Album can be found in your Item Bag and can be accessed at any time to admire your collection or reminisce about places you love.

Sharing memories is one of the great strengths of Pokémon GO, so be sure to check out this long-awaited feature.

The holiday cup in the league Pokémon

As with every event, Niantic is offering to break up your battle routine with a special cup for the GO Battle League Season 10.

The Holiday Cup is reserved for Pokémon of up to 1500PC and only allowed to the following types: Normal, Plant, Electrik, Ice, Flight and Spectre.

Part 2 of Pokémon GO Winter Holiday Event

From Thursday 23 December 2021 at 10:00 am until Friday 31 December 2021 at 8:00 pm (local time), the second part of the winter holidays will introduce the Pokémon ice cube Bergmite.
