Ah, Supercell... The developer often has surprises in store for us, and they're not always good ones. After announcing the closure of Squad Busters in 2026, this time the studio's latest announcement concerns its monster-hunting game. Rest assured, there's no closure on the horizon, just an update for mo.co in 2026. We take a look at the changes to come.
mo.co update brings new classes
During the last mo.convo, the mo.co devs' podcast, we learned that the game was about to undergo a major update. All this against a backdrop where Supercell, as usual, will be shutting down one of its flagship Squad Busters games in 2026. We also know that mo.co is losing revenue. But rest assured! Supercell has no plans to close the game, if the CM is to be believed...!
So it's safe to assume that the mo.co update, dubbed 'neo mo.co', is designed to get the ball rolling again and get players back in the game. So what does this update have in store for us? The biggest change concerns builds, which will be scrapped and replaced by classes. According to CM Joao Freitas in his tweet, the current system is doomed to fail.
Once the mo.co update is in place, you'll no longer need to collect gagdets and rings to get an optimised build. Instead, you'll have access to predefined classes, where each weapon has its own abilities, combos and play style. On the face of it, the same weapons will always be available.
And that's understandable: today, some builds are clearly unusable, while others are cracked. This new system could well improve the balance between the different weapons.
A brand new progression system for neo mo.co
In addition to the class system that replaces builds, the mo.co update will also bring a new progression system. To progress, you'll need to unlock more classes, earn cosmetics and improve your player level. In other words, you'll have to rely on daily jobs, rifts and mastery tracks to progress.
And to make this progression more fluid, the devs have confirmed that they will be adding new classes on a regular basis.
No release date for the mo.co update
Without giving an official release date, the devs have stated that the mo.co update will arrive in early 2026. However, nothing is less certain. After all, we know Supercell and its super-graveyard! To be continued...
