In the early hours of this morning, Summoners War: Lost Centuria was released on Android and iOS, much to the delight of all the fans who were waiting with great anticipation to be able to test this new opus from Com2uS. We had the chance to have an interview with the Com2Us Europe team and we share everything with you in this article!
Those who had tested the beta already know what to expect, but for those players who didn't get that chance, well, go and try the game. The game takes place 70 years before the events of Summoners War: Sky Arena and offers a different approach to the same universe. We love it already! 🤩
Answers to your questions about Lost Centuria
The game currently contains over 40 monsters and Com2uS plans to add 10-15 monsters per year. You can save up to five different compositions to easily test different play styles without deleting your already confirmed and effective compositions. You can test your team compositions in scenario mode (PvE) or in friendly fights before putting them through the random PvP test.
Is the matchmaking well balanced?
The studio seems to have worked extensively on its matchmaking function to avoid fights with large level differences. As a result, even a player who has paid a lot of money should not be a big problem for a free player. Because if the level gap is too big, the chances of them running into each other should be small. And indeed, according to our first tests, the matches were rather well balanced.
What about the business model?
The business model is similar to that of Sky Arena. The shop is not only cosmetic, but the publisher considers that the benefit of purchased packs is not as important as in Summoners War: Sky Arena. You will be able to pick up rewards much more easily, for less farm time.
The studio considers that there is no real paywall to be good and that strategy will remain your only real asset. As well as your sense of timing in the use of so-called "game breakers".
A big need for farming?
Far from the intensive farming that may have discouraged many players, the Lost Centuria systemrewards the player's time investment much more easily. Completing the tutorial allows players to get a random heroic monster like Sophia, which is different for each player, whereas in Sky Arena everyone got Lapis, which also blocked players in one direction: farming.
Missions allow you to obtain passiverewards (without blocking the use of monsters sent on a mission for other PvP battles for the duration of the mission). These rewards passives can be, for example, dust for runes or copies of monsters. These missions are a daily occurrence and are therefore an important source of rewards . The scenario mode in PvE also allows you to unlock uniquerewards (i.e., recoverable only once).
What dimensions will the social aspect and multiplayer take?
Alliances, a sort of guild system from Lost Centuria, allow players to group together, find opponents for friendly duels to test their compositions, but also to exchange cards to progress faster! The alliance vs. alliance mode, like the guild vs. guild in Sky Arena, is not planned at the moment and will depend on the extent to which players make use of this social system.
As far as community development is concerned, Com2uS' objective is above all to find players who have grown tired of the excessive demand for farming in Summoners War: Sky Arena. But the objective is above all to create a new community without cannibalising the existing one with a more dynamic proposal that only requires about twenty minutes of attention per day to progress decently.
What are the main gameplay points to remember?
Dynamism and strategy are really at the heart of the gameplay of Lost Centuria. The objective is to optimise your composition of 8 monsters, choose the right spells and time them well. Also, the counter system is really determining if it is well used.
For the moment, no particular composition really stands out (except Woosa who is a bit of a game breaker), but we already know that the AoE and CC oriented compositions have proven themselves during the beta.
From esport for Lost Centuria ?
The game is almost exclusively focused on PvP, whereas this competitive dimension only took a more important place in a second time at Sky Arena, until creating the scene we know today. esport With its advanced experience ofesport, Com2uS will not hesitate to launch on Lost Centuria to organize events if the studio finds the players' enthusiasm sufficient to afford it. Anyway, you can already play in ranked! Season 1 has started, it will last 1 month.
