Schedule your alarm clock, or take advantage of the download available from 21 May! After a closed beta in March 2023 and January 2024, Wuthering Waves is scheduled for release on the European Android and iOS stores on 23 May at 4am, as well as on the Epic Game Store (the PlayStation release is planned, but has no official date yet).
WuWa, a new gacha RPG set in a post-apocalyptic universe
If you've missed out on Kuro Game's game, here's a quick reminder. Wuthering Waves is an open-world action RPG with elements of gacha, featuring exploration, parkour and fast-paced QTE-based combat. In Wuthering Waves, you take on the role of a Nomad in search of his past. You'll be accompanied by Resonators as you explore the post-apocalyptic world of Solaris.
Of course, as in any gacha, the resources you gather as you explore will enable you to recruit new characters (Resonators) who, thanks to the 'Echo' system, will be able to improve their skills.
A rogue-lite mode, co-op and cross-platform!
In addition to the multiple activities offered by the main quest, when Wuthering Waves is released you'll discover the traditional challenges and daily quests, as well as a rogue-lite mode to vary the pleasures, and the possibility of co-op with your friends!
In Wuthering Waves, you can actually join another player's game or invite someone into your world (with a maximum of 3 players). Co-op mode lets you fight enemies and bosses, collect resources and explore the map.
Another important piece of information: the game will indeed be cross-platform, as Kuro Game stated in an FAQ on its official website. In other words, you'll be able to launch the game on your mobile and resume your progress on your PC, and vice versa. The only requirement for this feature is that you choose the same server for each device.
Wuthering Waves, the next Genshin-killer?
If you too spend a little too much time on X and Reddit, the term 'Genshin Killer' is certainly not unfamiliar to you. Wuthering Waves is already being touted by some as the mobile RPG that will dethrone Genshin Impact, and it's true that, graphically at least, the two titles are quite similar.
When Wuthering Waves is released, you'll be able to explore a vast open world, as well as collecting characters and following story quests... just like in most gacha RPGs! But that's not enough to say that WuWa will be a serious competitor to Genshin.
On the other hand, unlike miHoYo's title, Wuthering Waves offers other possibilities, notably the ability to run on walls, as well as more complex combat using a parry system via QTEs.
There's also a slightly different banner system, allowing you to select the 5-star weapon of your choice. For the moment, it's hard to say whether Kuro Game's title represents a real threat to the Genshin giant. Stay tuned...!
Pre-registration for Wuthering Waves is still open
