Check out the weekly recap of mobile gaming news on Android and iOS for the week of February 7 to 13, 2022! We'll let you read it all below. ⬇️
1️⃣ After the release of My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero in May 2021, the licence from the famous manga is already adding a new mobile game to its list of achievements. Indeed, this week saw the release of My Hero Ultra Impact worldwide for Android and iOS players. While the game had already accumulated over 3 million downloads in Japan before its global launch, it is hoped that it will convince Western players, probably fans of the licence, with its 3v3 character battle system, its iconic scenes from the anime and its options for customising your HQ hero.
2️⃣ Let's get to the blockchain news with Olympic Games Jam Beijing 2022. This officially licensed title offers players the chance to take part in several Winter Olympics sports in a party game version of the event: here, Fortnite-style boosts and skins are on the menu, against a backdrop of collectable NFT pins. If you've ever dreamed of seeing a hot dog man snowboarding down a slope in a play-to-earn game, this looks like the game for you.
3️⃣ Attention fans of owls and letters spitting in your face, NetEase and Warner Bros. have just announced the worldwide release of Harry Potter: Magic Emerges this year. Blending deckbuilding and TFT-style combat, the game also lets you discover life at Hogwarts, with its Quidditch matches, courses in defense against the forces of evil and even the creatures lurking nearby. You'll need to improve your deck and playing style in PvE and especially in PvP to rise through the ranks of the famous Hogwarts Duel Club.
4️⃣ Change of scenery with the Dead Cells DLC "The Queen and the Sea" coming to mobile. The colourful French game is beefing up its content for mobile gamers, and if you've never tried Dead Cells, this is definitely your chance to discover this nugget.
5️⃣ Do you like survival especially when you have the cards in your hand to organise the group and send the person you like least to be stung by killer bees? You might enjoy the release of Tinker Island 2, the sequel to Tricky Tribe's popular mobile game, now available on Android and iOS. You'll be able to divide up the various survivors into missions of upgrading, resource gathering or exploring deep into uncharted territory while building your base and making decisions for the survival of the group, much like games like Virtual Villagers or Bitlife.
6️⃣ On the new games side, we learn that Ragnarok V will launch its pre-registrations in March and, given that the next phase of test will take place in Oceania, we'll have to wait a little while to learn more about the RPG sequel Ragnarok Online: Valkyrie Uprising, although its successive test phases until April seem to point to a launch in the coming months. This week also saw the release of Traha Infinity on Tap Tap, but I've only been able to access the game in Korean for the moment, so I can't make up my mind about the title!
7️⃣ We knew it, despite its slightly dated graphics, the new Yu-Gi-Oh mobile game had all the cards in hand to become a success. Well, Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel had a great launch, reaching the 10 million DL mark in just over two weeks, after a first week that already had 4 million players.
8️⃣ If you like manga, you're going to be thrilled with the next two news items. On the one hand, PUBG signs a partnership to offer its players a temporary event in the universe of Jujutsu Kaisen, the most popular manga of the year. And on the other, we discover that the release date of EDENS ZERO Pocket Galaxy, based on the work of Hiro Mashima, is February 24, in about ten days. If you've been waiting for this title, it shouldn't be long before it's available on your mobile.
9️⃣ In another universe, where "inspiration" works wonders, the Valorant -like (very inspired), Hyper-Front is opening pre-registrations for an upcoming global launch. It has to be said that gamers have been waiting for many months for the promise of Valorant 's future on mobile without having any concrete content to sink their teeth into, so Hyper Front comes at a good time, even if it remains to be seen what the gameplay feel, balancing and servers...
🔟 Finally, to conclude this week's mobile news, Netmarble announced Golden Bros, a 3v3 play-to-earn shooter. It's decided, the future of the video game industry is intimately linked to that of blockchain and NFTs according to the decisions of the big companies in the sector, even if I deplore the fact that this is above all a new way to generate money rather than interesting or really innovative content for players. But I still believe that some studios, perhaps indie ones, will make more intelligent use of it.
Be sure to check out the latest mobile game releases to see what's new! See you next week for fresh news on your favourite mobile games. 😃
