League of Legends is one of the behemoths of online multiplayer video games. This MOBA dominates the competitive scene esport but also brings together a huge number of casual gamers. Well established on PC by Riot Games, the latter is now seriously tackling the mobile market, after the alternative games Teamfight Tactics and Legends of Runeterra. LoL: Wild Rift, the phone version of the MOBA has opened its closed beta for iOS users. Intended for players in Southeast Asia, we can't take advantage of it. However, you can still pre-register while waiting for the official release !
A first phase of test alpha had been implemented earlier. It concerned players in Brazil and the Philippines. For the time being, Europeans are only spectators. With this second phase of test, the development team has implemented several notable new features .
By multiplying the phases of test alpha and beta on Android and iOS, Riot Games has the opportunity to test new features for Wild Rift. While the game is heavily inspired by League of Legends, it will have its own identity. Moreover, the target audiences are not the same and have different expectations... Hence the importance of trying it out before launching!
Originally, Wild Rift only contained 36 champions. This is a small number compared to the rich universe of League of Legends, which has over 150 characters. They should all gradually make the transition to mobile.
This beta for iOS includes 6 new champions :
Something to please every role!
Wild Rift will use the same business model as LoL. A free-to-play game that will give the possibility to buy exclusive, purely cosmetic content. This will please the biggest spenders among us, without affecting thefairness of the game.
This version of test gives the possibility to buy "Wild Cores" which allow to obtain skins, emotes or emblems. The entire amount spent on the beta + 20% will be transferred to the real game afterwards.
This ranked mode was already available in the first phase of test. But a new level has been added: the emerald rank. Regardless of the level of the players, ranked games are still a must.
With this Wild Rift beta for iOS , Riot Games also hopes to receive maximum feedback on the quality of the gameplay. New features have been added to make camera control easier and the experience more fluid. Players can have a semi-unwrapped camera, customisable buttons or make moves directly on the mini-map.
We're looking forward to getting more information, as the release date has not yet been announced, so we hope to hear back from this beta soon!
