The news I'm about to share with you makes me very, very happy: at the TGS Mobile Gaming Show 2024,The Game Kitchen announced Blasphemous on mobile, the souls-style metroidvania that fans have been clamouring for for some time. Now, 5 years after the game's release (and a year after the release of the second opus on PC, which I highly recommend), it's a done deal. But wait, there's more, because Blasphemous on mobile comes with the full package.
Blasphemous mobile announcement: (re)discover a dark and edgy metroidvania
Blasphemous is the very first game from Madrid-based studio The Game Kitchen. In this very angry metroidvania, you play as the Penitent, the last survivor of his brotherhood, cursed and imprisoned in the land of Cvstudia, where religion has taken a rather bloody and sometimes disturbing turn.
If Blashphemous can be compared to a souls like, it's not just because of its relative difficulty, or its mysterious lore and cryptic story. There are many of the genre's hallmarks, including an ingenious level design withshortcuts to unlock, plenty of enemies, and bosses with challenges and patterns that are sure to give you a hard time!
Of course, the game isn't perfect: you could criticise it for a few unfair and frustrating moments (don't fall into the spikes, or you risk getting a one-shot) or its rather lightweight bestiary.
But apart from that, if this is your kind of game, I can only advise you to pre-register for Blasphemous on Android or iOS, especially if you like (superb) pixel art and dark, gloomy atmospheres. You're sure to love this game!
Blasphemous comes to mobile with all its DLC
The final gift to fans from The Game Kitchen in announcing Blashphemous on mobile: the game will come with all 3 DLCs. This means that fans will be able to enjoy the game in its final version, but also with a mobile-optimised interface. The studio has indicated that it wants to offer a quality experience for Android and iOS players, who will be able to take advantage of controls designed for touch. Controller compatibility has also been announced.
Given the level of care that has gone into The Game Kitchen games, I'm sure we'll be treated to a port that's just right. As you can see, I'm particularly excited about the announcement of Blasphemous on mobile and I'm looking forward to testing it on the day of its release, which is still unknown at the moment. From what has been announced, the game will be available for less than $8, a pretty decent price for a game of such quality.
