TFT Worlds: the format and the qualified players

Format and results of the TFT Worlds tournament

With Teamfight Tactics Set 7 arriving in June, it's time for the last major competition on Set 6.5. From April 29 to May 1, 2022, the best players from all regions will compete to determine who will be the world champion. So, what is the format of the TFT Worlds and who are the qualifying players? Let's find out before the tournament starts.

The players qualified for the TFT Worlds

For several months, TFT players have had various opportunities to qualify for the TFT Worlds. Whether it was via the leaderboard or by winning certain competitions, we now find ourselves with 32 qualified players.

TFT Worlds: the qualified players

Europe and China will each have 6 representatives, while South Korea will have 5. North America and Brazil will have 4, Latin America will have 3 players and Japan and Oceania only 2.

On the French side, we will be able to count on 4 very talented players to defend our country's colours at the TFT Worlds:

  • Double61 for the Karmine Corp, two-time European champion and TFT world champion in 2020;
  • A33d for Aegis, currently2nd in the European ranking;
  • Voltariux for Solary, just behind Un33d in3rd place;
  • L3S Coco, recent winner of the Gamers Assembly.

The competition format

On the first day of the TFT Worlds, the 32 players will be divided into 4 groups according to their region to allow a fair mix. After 3 games, the groups will be changed for 3 more games. At the end of the 6 games, the 16 players with the highest points will win their place for the rest of the competition.

Same principle for the second day, but there will only be 2 groups. The 8 best players will win their ticket for the final on the third day, where the format will be quite different.

Indeed, there will be no set number of games for the final. Players will have to reach 18 points and then win a first place to validate their victory and become the TFT Worlds champion.

During these 3 days, the cream of the TFT players will compete on the 12.7 patch to prove they are the best. The prize is a $300,000 cash prize and a trophy in the form of a golden spatula for the 2022 world champion.

TFT Worlds: the trophy

You can follow the official French cast of the TFT Worlds on the channel Twitch . And if you are from Paris or Lyon, you can also attend the viewing party organised by the Aegis team to support their player Un33d. Tickets are free, but limited in number, so don't waste time and book your place now.

The results

[Updated 02/05/2022]

Unfortunately, 3 of the 4 Frenchmen were eliminated in the first round. Only Un33d managed to reach the 6th place. After a very good first day which ended with a top 1, Un33d was not successful in his games the next day. Mathematically eliminated after only 4 games, the Aegis player did not manage to get past 6th place in the 6 games of the second day.

According to L3S Coco's analysis of the French cast desk, our 4 representatives were ill-prepared to face the foreign compositions.

In the final, the two Chinese players LiLuo and LiuLi gave their opponents no chance, with 2 victories each in the 4 games played. LiLuo won the last game with an original composition: 8 Bodyguards and Zeri carry. At the same time he becomes the new TFT world champion on Set 6.5.

TFT Worlds final ranking

Let's hope that our French players will have better chances on the set 7, Dragonlands, which will be released on May 25th 2022 and which we will tell you about soon.
