The TFT Fates Championship kicks off in April and the best tacticians will face off against each other for the chance to win the title. There will be glory for the winner, as the competition is a world championship. But there will also be a very nice cash prize at stake of $250,000. Europe and France have a special status. In the last big competition, it was the very young KC double61 from Kameto Corp who won. As France has a very active community on TFT, we are crossing our fingers to make cocorico again!
CalendarThe TFT Fates Championship will be held in the UK from 1 to 6 September 2010, with a schedule, format and cash prize. The competition promises to be exciting and it will be possible to follow all the matches in streaming.
TFT Fates Championship competition date and schedule
The official competition will last 3 days and will take place from 7 to 9 April. But before that there will be a qualification process. Everything is going to happen very quickly, but we don't know all the details of this process yet.
Qualification process
The players are divided into regions and will first have to prove their worth on the regional stage in order to have any hope of reaching the world stage. Each region is different (number of players, number of qualifying tickets, etc.), so there is not really a harmonised process. Each region will have its own methodology which will combine leaderboard ranking and qualifying tournaments. We will have to wait for more information on this subject, especially on the European qualification process.
Official competition
Day 1: After 5 rounds of the Swiss system, the list of title contenders will be reduced from 24 to 16 members.
Day 2: The second cut will be even more brutal, as 8 new players will leave after 5 more rounds of the Swiss system. The composition of the two lobbies will be determined by the results of Day 1.
Day 3: The last 8 competitors will fight for the crown. First you have to accumulate 18 points and then get a top 1! There is no limit to the number of games and it can go very fast, as well as drag on.
